Happy World Kindness Day, Sweet Friends!!
Today we are celebrating the 7th annual Caring Hearts Card Drive with a fun blog hop!
The holidays are about family, kindness, and joy. However, during this time many of the elderly who live in nursing homes feel lonely. Wouldn’t it be great if we brought a smile to their face and brightened their holiday season simply by sharing our love of cardmaking? Please join crafters around the world for the 7th annual Caring Hearts Card Drive. Last year we collected over 22,000 cards and distributed them to over 100 nursing homes throughout the world. And we hope to collect even more this year! Please join us. Details for the card drive can be found at: Vera Yates Blog & Jennifer McGuire’s Blog.
____________________________________________________
For my first card, I used our recently released Gingersnaps stamp set.
I just adore this paper from our Happy Holidays patterned paper collection and knew that I wanted to use it with these sweet little ginger babies. I started out by heat embossing them in white onto kraft cardstock and then lightly colored them with pencils. The sentiment from the Seasons Greetings stamp set was also embossed in white. I trimmed the kraft cardstock to fit inside the stitched boarder of the patterned paper and added a layer of SugarPuff Foam underneath for depth and dimension.
I added a die cut holly sprig from the SugarCuts – Beautiful Bauble die set and sponged on a little ink.
_____________________________________________
For my second card, I kept things very clean and simple by letting the paper from the Happy Holidays patterned paper collection do all of the work for me.
I cut the SugarCut – Kindness die twice, once with SugarPuff Foam and a second time with a coordinating cardstock and layered them together to created a dimensional effect. Underneath, I stamped a coordinating sentiment in black from the Kindness Matters stamp set.

November 15, 2016 at 1:47 amI did the Caring Hearts Card Drive the first year it started and have been doing it ever since. I know some of those people who live in homes don’t get very many visitors or mail so this is a wonderful treat for them. Right now my 92 year old dad is in a nursing home for a broken collarbone that happened coming out of the doctors office on a rainy windy day. He is coming home in a few weeks and he won’t be there for Christmas but if he was, I know he would have loved a card from someone that isn’t me. I can make him cards anytime.
What happened to the little guy in the middles head? It looks like someone ate it! Poor guy! LOL Those images are so cute! I also see my house in your next card. It’s the one on the right side. The window in the middle on the second floor is my craft room. It gets lots of light so I can create cards for the Caring Hearts Card Drive and has a beautiful view which I love to gaze out at during the first snowfall and when the leaves change in the fall. It gives me card inspriration! Love your 2 cards and I am going to check out your site because I am not sure I’ve heard of you before. I love to browse and maybe, just maybe, depending on what I see, I might place and order or 2.

November 16, 2016 at 4:58 pmWhile both designs are certainly wonderful, I really like the one that says “Kindness is always beautiful!” What a great sentiment!! We don’t have enough kindness in this world, so this gentle reminder is a great idea! It really takes very little time to share a smile or thoughtful word with someone but it can reap great benefits in people’s lives!!
