Hello there! Audrey Tokach here! I am so excited to be sharing another project with you today as September and October Guest Designer! This card uses the super cute Mermaid Kisses stamp set and the Wave Stencil!
To create my card, I first cut down a piece of watercolor paper to 4” x 5.25”. I temporarily adhered the Wave Stencil the panel, making sure that it was completely flat, then, I used Distress inks in the shades Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Blueprint Sketch to watercolor over the stencil. I waited for each layer to air dry before adding more ink to build up the color intensity. Some paint seeped under the stencil, and I was ok with that as water has a tendency to go wherever it wants to. When everything was dry, I peeled back the stencil and was left with such a fun effect.
You can see bits and pieces of the stencil randomly throughout the background. I stamped one of the adorable mermaids from the Mermaid Kisses stamp set, along with some fish and a cute seahorse that are included in the set. I colored them with Copic Markers and fussy cut them with my scissors and popped them up on the watercolor background with foam tape. I stamped a sentiment from the set onto black cardstock with Versamark ink, and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I felt like something was missing, so I stamped the sea grass from the set in shades of green ink, fussy cut it and adhered it to the top of the sentiment strip before popping that up with foam tape just underneath the mermaid. Before adding the panel to an A2 card base, I added a strip of striped paper to the right side of the card base using fun paper from the Spots & Stripes Brights patterned paper collection. To finish things off, I added some white gel pen accents, and tiny bubbles using Nuvo Drops in Morning Dew.
That’s all for me today, but I will be back with another project to share with you next Monday! In the meantime, you can follow me on Instagram to see what I am up to! Be sure to check out the new SugarPea September release! It’s a cute one!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
