Guest Designer ~ Emily Mydlowski

Hi Friends and Happy Monday! It’s Emily Mydlowski (@popsofpaper) and I’m so happy to be here sharing a Spooky Halloween Shadow Box Scene Card using the SugarCut-SpookyScape Landscape Dies. I know it’s only August but I am so looking forward to Fall weather so I’m diving right into Halloween.

Before I get into the card-making process, how about we start with all of the supplies:

SugarPea Stamps: Fang-Tastic (moon and sentiment)

SugarCuts Dies: SugarCut-SpookyScape & SugarCut-Birthday Journal Card

Other: Distress Oxide Ink (Carved pumpkin, Spiced Marmalade and Wilted Violet), Silver Embossing Powder, Spots & Stripes Brights Paper Pad, Silver Gel pen, VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne.

To create the Spooky Landscape card, first I created the black cardstock frame for the scene using the scallop and rectangle die from the Birthday Journal Card Die Set. Then I die cut a second scalloped rectangle from Bristol Smooth White cardstock and ink blended the background using distress oxide Inks and ink blending brushes.

I stamped the moon from the Fang-Tastic stamp set in VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink and then with a brush added some silver embossing powder over the stamped moon image and heat set the embossing powder for a little extra moonshine.

Then I die cut the SpookyScape landscape die once on black cardstock and the second on shiny silver cardstock. I also die cut three bats from the silver cardstock. I adhered the Spooky Landscape to the ink blended panel with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive glue. Then I glued in the silver windows, door and the bats to the sky. For a little extra dimension, I used a silver gel pen to add highlights to the house, trees and graveyard.

Then I heat embossed the Happy Halloween sentiment with silver embossing powder and added the scallop frame over the entire landscape scene. To finish the card, I added a piece of Orange Stripe paper to a black card base, and adhered the Spooky Scene with foam tape. For a little extra pop I added in a few black stars in the sky.

I hope you enjoyed my Spooky Halloween card and it inspires you to use your stamps and dies in new ways. Happy Early Halloween. Thanks for stopping by and can’t wait to see you next week!

Big Paper Hugs!

Emily
