Guest Designer ~ Emily Mydlowski

Hello Friends! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

For today’s projects, I went for a bold and graphic look using the Stuck on You and Card Front Element Builder II. I also mixed and matched a few other stamps and die cuts including: Postage Stamp SugarCut and the Sending Sentiments Stamp Set. I just love how all of the SugarPea dies and stamps play so well together.

I really enjoy creating card sets so I have two cards for you today. When I create card sets, I like to use at least two-three of the same elements/techniques on each card. My focus elements are the stripe pattern die cut, cactus images and using distress oxide inks (Festive Berries, Pine Needles, Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean) for stamping and creating matching card stock elements.

Sending Lots of Love

  1. I stamped the heart-shaped cactus with Festive Berries and Pine Needles Distress Oxide inks and fussy cut the image.
  2. Then from the Card Front Element Builder II SugarCut, I die cut the stitched circle, a Stitched Rectangle from black cardstock and I added the stripe die cut to the center/top of a white card panel.
  3. Then I stamped some circle images from the Follow Your Dreams stamp set to the stitched circle die cut and added adhered the cactus with foam tape.
  4. I colored the three inlay pieces from the stripe die cut with a sponge dauber and distress oxide ink to match the cactus image. Then I glued the colored pieces into the stripes for an inlay effect.
  5. For a little extra pop, I die cut “Sending” four times from black cardstock and stacked them for extra dimension. Then I stamped “Lots of Love” with VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne.
  6. To finish the card I die cut the stitched rectangle panel from the Card Front Element Builder II SugarCut in black cardstock and adhered the decorated card panel to the stitched rectangle. I then attached the A4 stitched rectangle to a white cardstock base.
  7. For a little extra pop,  I added a cute little floral embellishment to the cactus.

Hope your Birthday is on Point

I stamped the tall cactus image with Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks. Then I die cut both horizontal and vertical stripes to a white card panel and adhered it to a stitched rectangle in black cardstock. I used a sponge dauber to apply Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide ink to two white strips and pasted them in as inlays to the horizontal stripes. Then I adhered the cactus image where the horizontal and vertical lines intersected with foam tape. I stamped the perfect catcus birthday sentiment from Stuck on You with VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink and added a cute little floral embellishment to the cactus for a little extra pop.

I hope you enjoyed my cards today and it inspires you to use your stamps and SugarCuts in fun new ways! Thank you SugarPea Designs for inviting me to guest design with you in July and August!!

Big Paper Hugs!

Emily
