Guest Designer ~ Emily Mydlowski

Hi Everyone! I’m Emily Mydlowski (@popsofpaper) and I’m so happy to be here with you today sharing my first Guest Designer post!!

I just love all of the SugarPea SugarCuts and couldn’t wait to play with the Large Striped CoverPlate. When I find fun toys (I mean stamps and dies) to play with, I have a hard time not creating more than one card. So I made two cards using almost all of the same supplies with a few different pattern twists and sentiments.

Welcome Wagon!

For my first card, I thought it would be cute to create a “Welcome Wagon” card using the Welcome SugarCut and the floral wagon design from Wagon Wishes. I think this would be so cute to welcome a new friend to the neighborhood.

To create the Welcome Wagon Card, I die cut the cover plate from White, Blue and Red card stock. Then I played with the layout of all of the different color card stock inlay pieces to determine my favorite pattern. I then glued the main die cut panel to a card base and used Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive to adhere the inlay pieces into the panel. I die cut “Welcome” from shiny silver cardstock and adhered it to the top of the oval on the cover panel (bending it slightly to hug the oval).

I stamped and colored the wagon image with Copic markers and adhered the die cut image just under the Welcome sentiment. For a little extra pop, I die cut and added a few sparkly stars from the SugarCut Gift Tag Die and some tiny blue and red star embellishments.

Sending Loads of Thanks

For my second card, I followed the exact same steps as the Welcome Wagon card but created an entirely different layout with my card stock colors, Thanks Word Die and Copic Colors for the Wagon Wishes die cut.

I just love how the same supplies and even similar color palette can create two very different card designs. I hope you enjoyed my cards today! Thanks for stopping by and Big Paper Hugs!
