Happy Summer {Video}

Hi everyone! It’s Laura here, and today I am back with a card and a video showing you how to create an easy and fun background with Distress Inks!

The stamp set that I chose is the super cute Cool Treats stamp set. I stamped it on Neenah Solar White card and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers. Once I was done, I die cut the image with the coordinating die.

For my background I die cut two panels with the rectangle die in the Card Front Element Builder II set, one out of some patterned paper, and the other out of watercolor card. The patterned paper is part of the Spots and Stripes Brights paper pad

I took the watercolor panel and stamped the ice cream and the ice pop image all over the panel, using Versamark ink. I heat embossed the stamped images with clear sparkle embossing powder and then started creating the fun splashy pattern that you see in the final card.

I used Distress Inks in Twisted Citron, Squeezed Lemonade and Carved Pumpkin, and the exact procedure is explained in detail in the video. 🙂

I then trimmed a 2×5.5″ strip out of the patterned paper rectangle I had previously prepared, and die cut some slits on one of its side with another die in the Card Front Element Builder II set.

With the banner die in the same set I die cut some black cardstock and heat embossed my sentiment with white embossing powder.

For some finishing touches I used Glossy Accents, a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Pen and a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen in the size 10. I added some black Nuvo Drops, and that finished off my card.

As I mentioned, I have a video for you, showing how to create this fun and fresh looking summer card. And if you enjoy cardmaking videos, make sure to subscribe to the SugarPea Designs channel for more inspiration! (Click HERE if you cannot see the video below)
