Hi everyone! Carisa here and I’m so excited to be sharing my third post with you this month as a Guest Designer for SugarPea Designs. I had so much fun creating my card this week using more items from the June release!
I started by creating my background using a die as a mask so I would have a border for my Distress Oxide ink blending. I chose my colors (Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Worn Lipstick) because I knew I wanted to use the Sending You Sunshine sentiment from the Tropic Like It’s Hot stamp set. While I still had the mask in place, I stamped a few of the layered leaves and flowers in the top upper and bottom corners also with Distress Oxide inks (Cracked Pistachio, Peeled Paint, Fired Brick and Walnut Stain.) Then I add some splashes of water to activate the oxide and create some texture.
I heat set my panel and then brushed some powder on it so I could heat emboss the sentiment in black. To do this, I stamp in Versafine Onyx Black ink and sprinkle clear embossing powder over it. I find this is the easiest and less messy way to get a crisp black embossed look. Next I added sequins from the Lily White Sparkly Shaker Collection. Before adding my panel to a card base, I wrapped twine around the bottom and foam adhesive so it would sit flat even with that dimension. I thought I was done but I showed it to my girls and asked them what was missing. We decided it needed more dimension so we pulled out some Nuvo Drops for the center of the flowers and some extra bling!
I hope you enjoyed my card today and I can’t wait to be back next week to share my last couple creations using the June release! Do any of you love a set so much that you are almost afraid to use it? That’s how I feel about both the sets I’m using next week which is why I kinda saved my favorites for last! Hope to see you then.
Thanks,
Robin P
