Light Bulb Moments

Good morning! Ardyth here with a pretty card that shows how to get more out of your dies. If you have the Treescape SugarCut, you’ll remember that it was attached to a second die that had the same curve but no trees (see product photo below). I separated the two, and this die will be great for creating hills and landscapes, but today I’m using it to create some wonky stripes. Here’s my process:

  • Trim a white piece of cardstock to 3.75 x 5″
  • Using a stamp positioner to ensure even placement, stamp daisy from Funky Wreath: Spring Addition along one edge in Versamark ink
  • Emboss in white ink
  • Using landscape die, cut wonky stripes. Move the die and/or flip it over so that the stripes appear to be random.
  • Sponge each stripe with distress ink. Spritz for interest, if you wish
  • Cut a piece of computer paper to 3.5×4.75″, cover with adhesive.
  • Lay the coloured strips onto the computer paper, so that you have one panel again. Using computer paper keeps the combined panel thin enough that die-cutting and inlaying will be easy later.
  • Inlay the ‘Celebrate’ SugarCut (see detailed instructions below)
  • Assemble the card and embellish
  • Choose a pretty matching envelope from SugarPea’s new collection!

The photos below show my process for cutting and inlaying the ‘Celebrate’ SugarCut.

Position the die and run it through your die cutting machine

Remove the die cut – make sure to keep all the little bits!

Flip over and cover with two-sided adhesive – this gives a sticky area for your die cut to ‘land’ as well as providing adhesive for card-assembly.

Cut a white celebrate and lay it into the panel

Use a piercer to put the centres of the ‘e’s and the ‘a’ from the rainbow die cut back in

Very clever. I love to challenge my self to get the most out of my stamps and dies. Great job!
