Light Bulb Moments

Good morning! Ardyth here with this week’s Light Bulb Moment – a dramatic, frosty Christmas card using one of our newest sets, Flurry of Warm Wishes.

These snowflakes are delicate and elegant and just cry out for a dark background full of interest. I played around with some water-based markers and smooth Bristol cardstock to make one.

I grabbed 5 different blue markers and got started with the darkest, drawing 4 small dots down the panel. With the next darkest, I circled the first dot, and worked my way out to the lightest colour. These markers blend so well on this smooth cardstock and by simply scribbling on scrap paper, you can get any dark ink off the tip of the lightest marker.

Once I finished with the colouring, I spritzed my panel and let the colours run together. You have to let go at this stage – there’s no controlling what you will get! I let the panel dry naturally overnight, and was amazed by the way the edges almost look like frost on a window! I love to see the different areas with different shades of blue.

Once it was dry, I stamped the snowflakes with Versamark ink and embossed them with white embossing powder. I fishined with a sentiment from the set and popped it up on a die cut from Stitched Flags, cut shorter to fit in the space. I doubled it up with a glittery silver end for a bit of sparkle.
