Light Bulb Moments with Lisa

Hi, Lisa here with my Light Bulb Moment.

Today, I am taking a stamp and giving it a “sketched” look.

 I learned this technique from KellyJean Gettelfinger when she was hosting the Try A New Technique Challenge on Splitcoaststampers in April of this year.

I marked the center and bottom line lightly with a pencil as my guide, then stamped the go cup from Caffeine Addict one piece at a time using a light ink.  I realized that if I did not get my images to line up exact, I could make up for it in the next step.

For this part, I found I had to practice on scrap paper a few times first.  The more I did, I felt more comfortable and more fluid in my pen strokes.   I used an ultra fine Sharpie and went over my light stamp outline by going back and forth with small strokes of my pen to achieve the sketch look.  I even found if I didn’t like it I could just go over my marks more until I was satisfied and it worked fine.

I added a little sense of humor with my punny sentiment from Pizza My Heart.  This sentiment seemed to match as it has a little bit of a sketchy look to it.  At this point you could keep it as it is or add color like I did in my top photo.  I colored in my cup using Copics in grays again keeping with the sketch look.

Lid = C1, C3, C5

Cup = C00, C0, C1

Sleeve = C0, C1, C3

I would love to see what you come up using this technique and SugarPea Designs stamps.  Come on let us see them by linking up to the SugarPea Designs Fan Page on Facebook.

      Thank you Donna. You have to try it. It takes just a little bit practice in one sitting. This particular image is perfect to start with because it has all straight lines.
