Meant To Be Sent Challenge

Happy New Year, Friends!

It’s a new year, a new decade and a new start. And a real, true fresh start begins in your heart. Which is where the idea for the Meant To Be Sent challenge was born – with my desire to be more like my grandmother. At the start of each year, my beautiful 88 year old grandmother visits her favorite stationary store and selects birthday, anniversary, and Christmas cards for each of her children, grandchildren, great-grand children and many friends. She NEVER forgets a birthday and she’s never late! NEVER!

True Story: She once called me to apologize that my birthday card was going to arrive a few days late because she was in the HOSPITAL!! As it turned out, it my card arrived exactly on time.

My grandmother is serious about keeping connected with those that she loves and showing how much she cares. So often we send electronic birthday wishes and congratulations via text messages, email and social media posts – guilty as charged! But receiving a card (or better yet, a hand made card) in the mail just feels like LOVE!! It’s such a little thing – sending a card, but the message it delivers is so big!

And as a card maker, I’m ashamed to admit that I rarely mail the cards I create to their intended recipients. I start out with the best of intentions but they just never seem to make their way into the mailbox. I love to make cards – love it, but getting around to mailing them is an entirely different thing. I’ve chatted with many card makers over the years and I’ve discovered that I’m not alone. This year I want to change that!

I hope this challenge inspires YOU to join me in creating and SENDING all of those beautiful cards that are Meant To Be Sent!

For our Meant To Be Sent challenge, SugarPea Designs products are encouraged, but are not required to be eligible for the giveaway. All we ask is that you follow the theme and MAIL your card!

Each month our Meant To Be Sent challenge will provide you with a theme and/or creative ideas to get you excited and motivated to send the cards you create. We will also provide you with the information for various card drives and organizations who accept donations of hand made cards for those in need.

This month may we suggest Ronald McDonald House.
Ronald McDonald Houses are attached to children’s hospitals around the country enabling families to stay near their child while the child receives necessary medical care. You can send cards of support to families, or thank you cards to donors and volunteers.

Type of Cards Accepted: All holiday & occasions

January is a big month in my family for birthday’s. My husband, son, dad and step-dad all have birthday’s this month. I created this card for my step-dad. And it’s already in the MAIL!! WooHoo!!

I absolutely love the versatility of the new Cheers To You stamp and SugarCut die – they’re perfect for any occasion you have worth celebrating. There’s no stamping on this card, only die cutting. I chose the champagne bottle from the Cheers To You – SugarCut and the confetti pieces from Birthday Journal Card – SugarCut die. I chose gold and silver glitter paper from the Glitter Cardstock Sample Pack and added a pop of black to my greeting and card base for a more masculine look. The Cheers – SugarCut word die is popped up with foam tape for depth and dimension.

Now, it’s your turn. You have until midnight EST, Thursday, February 6th, to add your link and be eligible for a $50 Gift Voucher to be spent in the SugarPea Designs store. Our winner will be chosen at random to ensure that everyone has a chance to win!

I am interested to participate in the Meant To Be Sent. Being a DT member, I create cards regularly on top of the cards that I create. I do send my cards but the production exceeds the delivery. How do I go about in participating? I clicked the link to the Ronald McDonald’s House webpage but still unsure what to do. Thank you.

Every card I make is intended for someone… I do not blog or link up any of my creations. They are sent with love and each person is very appreciative and lets me know that. Some people say the postage is too much. I say each card is worth that and more… I have been making cards for 10 years now and can’t even count the number of cards I have sent. It is a joy to my heart and to my recipients.

I’m definitely guilty of making far more cards that I mail out and I intend to correct that this year. I’m excited to participate in this challenge.

Yes, what is it about card makers that get in the way of actually sending those cards that we so love to make? I used to be really good about sending out cards but now I seem to stockpile them, and even miss family birthdays. Could it be because people just don’t seem to send cards anymore? Even my Christmas cards received are fewer each year, even when I send mine out. I donate a lot of my cards, so that keeps the stash at a manageable level but I love this challenge to send more cards out.
Do we have to use SugarPea Designs stamps in our cards, or can it be any product? Thanks so much.

Those living on the other side of the pond may prefer to send their cards to Post Pals:
