Oh Holy Night

Hello and welcome!

It’s Tatiana here with you today! I’m super excited to be featured on SugarPea Designs blog! Time flies by and I think a few Christmas cards will come super handy in your stash. So I hope that a little Nativity scene I created using Come Let Us Adore Himstamp set will inspire you!

Working on the design for this project, I thought that a see through window would be a perfect extra touch to the handmade card since it would decorate both inside and outside parts. So to start, I prepared a regular A2 size card base, die cut a circle on the card front using Zig Zag Stitched Circles SugarCuts, closed the card and traced the circle shape on the inside part of the card to use as a guide. Next I die cut a larger circle from a masking paper using again the same Zig Zag Stitched Circles set and divided it into two parts with a curve SugarCut from Card Front Element Builder so that I could ink the sky and the ground parts inside the circle. I applied both positive and negative parts of the mask inside the card following the pencil lines, lifted up the bottom part of the circle, erased pencil lines and inked it with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress inks and an ink blending tool. I placed the mask back and work on the top portion of the circle blending Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, Faded Jeans and Black Soot colors.

While the background was drying, I stamped the Jesus baby and the animals on Strathmore Bristol paper with a waterproof black ink and colored them using water based markers and a small water brush from Pentel.

These are all the exact colors used:

TOMBOW MARKERS: n.N15, n.090, n.723, n.873, n.879, n.947, n.977, n.991.

ZIG CKLEAN COLOUR REAL BRUSH MARKERS: n.36 Light Blue, n.42 Turquoise Green, n.61 Light Brown, n.63 Ochre, n.67 Mustard, n.71 Flesh Colour, n.72 Beige, n.91 Light Gray, n.96 Mid Gray.

I fussy cut all the colored elements and painted the cut edges with a black brush tip marker. Assembling the whole project, I heat embossed with a white embossing paste the sentiment and the star from Come Let Us Adore Himstamp set on a night sky, popped the Jesus baby inside the circle and the animals on the card front.

Last but not least I created a quick matching envelope by simply stamping the angel and the star from Come Let Us Adore Him set with the same black ink I used before.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!!!

Tatiana
