Sending You Birthday Wishes

Hi peeps. How’s it going? Vera here to start your week with a fun inspiration from SugarPea Designs.

When I saw Jennifer McGuire’s Pop Up Shadow Card, I know right away that I want to try it myself. As always, when I feel stump, I could just watch any of her video and feel inspired.

Here’s my take on the pop-up shadow box card. And, I am not going to re-invent the wheel, you can check out Jennifer’s post HERE to see the step by step on making the pop-up shadow card.

I followed the step to make the box and use soft green cardstock for the front side and white cardstock for the back side. Ink up the back side with soft green and blue ink. Then, I work on the critters. For my critters, I used the sweet raccoon from Indian Summer set & the cheeky monkey from Chunky Monkey set. Die cut & color them with Copic.

To ground the raccoon, I stamped several of the leaves from Tropic Like It’s Hot set. I adhere the tree branch to a piece of acetate, so the monkey & the branch can slide when you push & pop the card.

As you can see from comparing the progress pic above & the final result, I changed my mind on the leaves placement. After I adhere the raccoon & the sentiment (from Pretty Peonies set) strip, I realized the leaves were too hidden, so I had to re-position them. LOL, to be honest as I was taking picture of the card, I changed my mind again!! I decided the card need more leaves. So, I tucked a couple more behind the raccoon and the sentiment strip. That way the front doesn’t look too plain.

Here’s the card from a different angle, so you can see all the layers. I had so much fun making this card. I guess I always enjoy creating a playful scene.

Well peeps, that’s all from me today. I hope you enjoy today’s inspiration and may your week starts off wonderfully. Cheers….
