You’re sure to experience waves of creativity and oceans of fun with this adorable trio of mermaids. Create darling under the sea adventures with the included bubbles, plants, fish and other sea life.

Our Scale Cover Plate die features beautiful scallops that are perfect for any occasion. You’ll find many creative uses for this die. Use with cardstock to create inlaid cutting designs or as a stencil and apply ink through the openings. This cover plate is perfectly sized to be used on card fronts measuring 4.25″ x 5.50″.

Shhhh! You’re getting an early peek at our new Wave Stencil – which I used here to create my background!! Isn’t it gorgeous?!?!
Using the Wave Stencil I sponged on Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon Oxide inks. Next, I spread Tonic – Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone to create this beautiful sparkle. I layered wave background onto a scalloped and stitched panel using SugarCut – Card Front Element Builder. The Mermaid Kisses images were colored with Copics and cut with the coordinating SugarCut dies. I cut the SugarCut – Hello word die multiple times in white, glued them together and then created a shadow by gluing the teal blue cardstock slightly offset. The Mermaid Kisses sentiment was stamped onto a SugarCut – Sentiment Strip (this die fits a HUGE selection of our sentiments) and heat embossed in white.
This card has loads of sparkle, but I couldn’t help adding a little bit more onto the mermaids tail with Wink of Stella and adding Glossy Accents to the fish and starfish in her hand. All of the images were popped up with foam take for dimension.

I’m a huge fan of our Cover Plate dies because there are so many different ways you can use them. This card was super quick to put together. And although I only have one card pictured, I was able to make THREE identical cards with the same effort it took to make ONE! That’s a WIN/WIN/WIN!! 🙂
I chose 3 jewel-toned glitter cardstocks and cut them with the SugarCut – Scale Cover Plate. Before I removed my paper from the die, I rubbed Glad Press & Seal (Yes, the stuff you have in your kitchen) over the back of the cardstock to keep all the scale pieces in place.
Randomly I substituted scales in different colors and placed foam tape behind 1/3 of them to create depth and dimension. After applying adhesive, I laid the Glad Press n’ Seal onto my card front and gently rubbed it into place before lifting the Press n’ Seal away. I heat embossed a few Everyday Sentiments in white and cut them with the SugarCut Sentiment Strips die set.
