Hi Crafty Friends!
It’s time again for our Sweet2Repeat Blog Hop! Now that so many of you have our April Release in your hot little hands, our Pod Squad of designers has geared up to inspire you with even MORE creative possibilities featuring our newest and hottest products!
I thought for my Sweet 2 Repeat project I would create something using a mix of our new products along with some of my favorite existing products. With a family full of book lovers, I find it useful to have a few bookmarks on hand. And over the years I have found that for those reluctant readers, like my son, a fun new bookmark is sometimes all it takes to make the task a little more enjoyable.
To begin, I ran all of the SugarCut dies (Brainy Bookmarks, Honeycomb Cover Plate, and Hey Honey) through my machine. Next, I got to work sponging the background onto the bookmark using the Honeycomb Stencil. To create interest I sponged with varying degrees of intensity using Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks. And since I also really love the SugarCut – Honeycomb Cover Plate, I found a way to incorporate it into my design too! I cut away a section and then glued it into place after lined it up onto the sponged background. I think I mentioned this during our product introductions, but it bears repeating (pun intended – lol)…the Honeycomb Stencil and Cover Plate die have the exact same sized hexagon openings and are perfect for layering just like I have done here.
I used some craft chalk that I had found hidden deep within the recesses of my studio to provide detail to the SugarCut – Hey Honey bear and layered his nose and muzzle area with foam tape for dimension. I stamped a sentiment from the Hey Honey stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black ink and then spritzed the bookmark with Glitter Mist for a little shimmer. I then looped a matching Bookmark Tassel to finish things off. I love this gorgeous bookmark tassel so much, that I decided to offer them in our store. I know you’re going to love these tassels as much as I do. They are thick, handmade and come in 25 gorgeous colors.
