I’m Feeling…

Happy!  We’re leaving for vacation soon and I can’t wait to get to my favorite lake for some much-needed R & R.

I’m Wishing…

that Friday would hurry up and get here!

I’m Loving…

That it’s summertime.  My grandson is out of school so I get to spend more time hanging out with him!

I’m Creating…

Right now I’m working ahead on dt projects that are due over the next couple of weeks.

I’m Reading…

I’m Reading … Who has time to read right now lol?  I love the Scarpetta novels by Patricia Cornwell so I’m packing her latest book, Dust, to take with me.

I’m Watching…

I really don’t watch a lot of TV but there are a couple of shows that I try to catch each week – Major Crimes and Murder in the First.

Today I’m going to show you how I add grass to my images.  I seen to be copic-challenged when it comes to adding blades of grass (mine are fat and chunky = ugly) so I use my Prismacolor pencils and gamsol for grass.

I use 3 or 4 green colored pencils, gamsol, and a blending stump.  For this image I used PC912 Apple Green, PC911 Olive Green, PC908 Dark Green, and PC109 Prussian Green.  It really doesn’t matter which colors you use as long as you have several different shades.

I color the ground with copics.  Using the colored pencils, I add blades of grass by flicking from the ground up.  You want the blades to be different lengths and you want to flick them in slightly different directions, crossing over other blades so they look more natural.

After you have all your grass done, wet your blending stump and lightly “smudge” the very bottom of the grass blades.  This makes the grass blend into the ground a little, instead of just sitting on top of the ground.

Here’s the card I made using the colored pencils for the grass.  The image is from the “Take A Load Off” set.
