I’m Feeling…

excited for Fall. It’s my favorite season of the year and I love that the trees are turning beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and red. It is quite delightful to make the drive to and from work right now.

I’m Wishing…

that my house would clean itself. Yeah, that isn’t happening. LOL.

I’m Loving…

caramel apples. I could eat them every day!

I’m Creating…

starting to work on some Christmas cards. Maybe I will mail some this year? Maybe…

I’m Reading…

mostly science fiction/fantasy as I work out. I need something to keep from counting the minutes while using the treadmill or elliptical machine.

I’m Watching…

I don’t have cable so I’m a bit behind on the latest and greatest TV shows. I do have Netflix and at the moment I’ve been indulging in CSI New York and Holmes Inspection.

Hello, crafty friends –
I’m excited to share a fun project with you today using the fabulous Blow Me Away stamp set.

I thought it would be fun to do a special treatment with the sentiment on this card by using it to create a background for the dragon.
WhirlyDragonFeature_Step1_DanielleLounds
To start I created a frame using a couple of shape dies. To keep them from shifting while running through the die cut machine I tacked them in place with a few pieces of washi tape.

Next I created the backing for the frame, by stamping the “You mean the whirl to me” sentiment on kraft cardstock with black ink. I kept repeating until the piece of cardstock was completely covered.

Stamped the dragon in black ink and then broke out the Copic markers to color the image. Once done I cut out using scissors.

Assembly time! I started by adhering the sentiment background to a white card base.

I attached the frame to the card base using foam dimensional. Easy Peasy.

A bit of ribbon or fibers never hurts. I glued a bit of burlap ribbon across the frame for texture.

Use more foam dimensional to adhere the dragon in place. At this point I whipped out the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter pen to add some shimmer here and there.
I finished the card with a few gold sequins and a touch of Glossy Accents to the pinwheel and dragon’s horn.
