Hello! It’s Kelly here today sharing this bright card using some of my favorite new products from the latest release! I’ll be sharing some of my favorite die cutting tips in today’s post as well!
To begin, I knew that I wanted to use the new Geo Floral Coverplate for my background. For these intricate dies, I really find that using a metal shim is very helpful. It makes it cut so nicely and helps with all of the tiny shapes. Once I had it cut, I blended on some Wild Honey distress oxide ink. I added a heavy layer at the top and lightened it up as I went down to create a subtle Ombre look.
After I had the background ready, I got to work stamping out all of the succulents in the Stuck On You stamp set. I like stamping each image in a variety of greens so that I have a nice selection to pick from when I am arranging them. I also stamped all of the terracotta pots because I didn’t know which ones I would be using.
I had so much fun putting all of the different plants into the pot. I had originally planned on using a few more, but design-wise, this is how it ended up. I now have quite an assortment of images that are already stamped and die cut for a future project. I wanted something bold and shiny to accent the pot of greenery and the Hello SugarCut was the perfect choice. I die cut it 4 times out of white cardstock and once out of white fun foam. I glued the 4 paper layers together using liquid glue (tip….make sure the glue has dried before adding the embossing powder). I find that laying the die cuts back into the die helps get them glued together straight and in the right shape. Oftentimes when you have an intricate diecut, it can lose its shape when it is pulled from the die cut. I did the same thing when I added the fun foam to the back. You can use the little holes that are in the die to release it, to push it back out.
I smooshed the word into my Versamark pad and sprinkled the gold embossing powder over the top. I heat set it and repeated those steps 3 times. Because I used the fun foam for dimension, it was easy to glue it onto the cardfront. I decided to cut a little bit from the top of the background so that I could have some white space to stamp one of the included sentiments on the front. The finishing touch is a few rainbow sparkle gems glued into the centers of a few of the flowers in the background. I also added some clear drops to the plants for some added interest.I had so much fun putting this together and I hope you found some of my die cutting tips helpful!
Have a wonderful day!

July 6, 2018 at 4:52 pmKelly, this card is so pretty! I love the beautiful background and ombre coloring. The die cut “hello” is super cool in gold too. And who knew to add fun foam to give some height and dimension without adding weight…great tip! I must visit the SugarPea store to do some shopping now! ; )
