Welcome to the Neighborhood

Hello! It’s Kelly here today sharing a bright and fresh “welcome to the neighborhood” design! We’ve had quite a few new families move into our neighborhood and I am woefully behind on giving them a proper welcome! Before Summer slips away, I thought I’d use these cute lemons from the Tutti Fruitti stamp set.  I made some yummy tropical cookies the other day so I thought I’d bake a fresh batch and send them along with this card.

To begin this design, I sprayed the Spirograph Mandala Stencil with Pixie spray and pressed it onto a panel of white cardstock. I blended some Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink over the top and then added some Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste over the top of the ink in a smooth, even layer. I set that aside to dry, cleaned my stencil and knife, and then got to work on the other elements I used on the card.

I die cut the lemons using the Tutti Fruitti SugarCuts and then used my Mini MISTI to stamp them. If I stamp set has more than one step involved in stamping, especially the leaves and stems on these fruit images, I like to die cut them first and then stamp so that I get everything aligned properly.

I like to add some shading to the fruit images by using two different colors of ink. I use a very small blending brush to tap where the two colors meet to get a seamless transition. I die cut a circle from the Card Front Element Builder II and used that as the background to adhere my two lemons using foam squares.

I also die cut the welcome word 3 times using the Welcome SugarCut and glued them together using liquid glue. Once that was done, I added them to the top of the lemons and then I added a thin coat of Crystal Glaze.

Once the stenciled panel was dry, I adhered it to a slightly larger piece of white cardstock to give it a border. I added the lemons and then “to the neighborhood” sentiment, which is from the Warm Welcome stamp set, using foam squares.

I used the Card Front Element Builder to die cut the yellow and white striped piece of pattern paper from the Life is a Carnival pattern paper pad. Once that was done, I layered it all onto a top folding A2 card base. The finishing touch is a trio of dew drop stones. I had a lot of fun putting this citrus-y card together!
