Hi Sugarpeeps! It’s Kelly here today! I have a bright citrus-y card to share with you using some fun techniques to make this card pop! We’ve had a lot of rain recently so I’ve been hankering for some bright, sunshine-y colors! To begin this design, I used Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink to do some ink blending on a white cardstock panel. Once the blending was done, I added some Shimmer Spray and some spritzed water.
Once it was dry, I used the awesome Geo Floral CoverPlate to dry emboss the panel by using a grey embossing mat in my die cutting machine. I really love the texture that it gives to the piece. I also die cut the Diagonal Striped CoverPlate and adhered it over the top using liquid glue. I also die cut the YOU SugarCut 3 times and adhered them together using liquid glue. I really like a chipboard weight piece so three to four layers usually does the trick. I die cut two rectangles out of white and black cardstock using the Zig Zag Sttiched Rectangles.
Once I had these pieces all cut, I added some black paint splatters for some added detail and dimension. The smaller the paint brush tip is, the smaller the splatters will be . I always “test” my splatter pattern on a piece of scratch paper to make sure they will look like I want. While the paint was drying, I stamped the “are wonderful” portion of the sentiment which is from the Sweet Sentiments-You stamp set. I also got to work on stamping the lemons. I used my mini MISTI so that I could get some realistic looking lemons. I inked up the entire lemon using a lighter shade of yellow ink and then added in some darker yellow in certain places. Once that was on the stamp, I used my smallest blending brush to tap out the ink pad line and give it a subtle transition between the two shades.
The lemons are from the Tutti Fruiti stamp set and I die cut them using the coordinating Tutti Fruiti SugarCuts. Once they were all cut, I got to work assembling the rest of the card. I added a few sparkling gems to the card for some added sparkle and shine!
