Guest Designer ~ Ashley Ebben

Hi everyone!

Please join us in welcoming our new June guest designer at SugarPea Designs, Ashley Ebben!

Here’s what Ashley has to say about herself:

“Hello everyone! My name is Ashley Ebben, and I live near St. Louis, Missouri with my husband, daughter, our two dogs and sassy ragdoll cat. I’m a stay-at-home mom to my two-and-a-half year old daughter (the half is very important) who is just the best. Naptime is my craft time! I started as a scrapbooker, but I am terrible at remembering to take and print pictures, so a few years ago I gave cardmaking a try and was instantly hooked. I especially adore ink blending – turning a white piece of cardstock into a colorful background is simply magical to me. I am so happy to be joining SugarPea Designs as a guest for the month of June and look forward to sharing my creations with you all!”

And  look at this wonderful first creation!

I’m so happy to share my first card as a guest designer for SugarPea Designs! I fell completely in love with the You’re My Type die as soon as I saw it, so I had to use it for today!

I started by creating a ray background using Post It tape and Distress Oxide ink in Scattered Straw. I taped off the bottom inch or so of white cardstock to mask it, then blended a bit of ink in the center. I then took two pieces of tape and made a thin “v” in the center of my blending and added more ink between them. I worked one ray at a time down each side, just eyeballing the placement, until I had the sunrise ray look I was going for.

I die cut the two pieces of the typewriter from You’re My Type with aqua and dark gray cardstocks. I glued them together with a glue pen, adding a small strip of white cardstock to the back for the keys. I cut the paper die with white cardstock and added my sentiment from the You’re My Type stamps with black ink before threading it through the typewriter. For an extra cute touch, I colored the kitty from Sprout Bloom Grow with Copic markers and added it to the top of the paper before adding the entire image to the card with foam tape. I added a few small heart die cuts made with the You’re My Type dies and pink cardstock for a finishing touch before adding the piece to a dark gray card base.

I hope you all enjoyed my card! I’ll be back next week with a new project to share! Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!
