Hope Your Birthday Is A Hit

Hello! It’s Kelly here today sharing a fun design using the new Greatest Hits stamp set! This is one of those ideas that struck me during the release, but didn’t get a chance to execute it! I am so thrilled to be able to share it with you today. When I was die cutting the record player needles out of metallic paper for one of my cards during the release, I thought how fun it would be to make “platinum” records.  I decided to try and recreate the same look that many music artists use to frame their platinum and gold records. The sentiment works perfectly for this idea as well!

I also wanted to use the Concentric Circles Stencil with some embossing paste and embossing powder to create some fun dimension. I wanted this design to be clean and simple, but with a few special details to make it pop. This is a quick and easy design that you could recreate in a snap!

To begin this design, I die cut the two different records using the Greatest Hits SugarCuts as well as the circles for the labels. I stamped “Happy Birthday to You” in black and then stamped the grey portion. I love the different elements that this set includes to really give your designs a realistic look. The sentiment is heat embossed in gold onto a rectangle that has been die cut using the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles. I actually adhered three of these together since I was heat embossing and I didn’t want the paper to warp.

For the background, I cut a 4 by 5 1/4 inch piece of white paper and taped the stencil over it using washi tape. I used some white embossing paste and spread it over the stencil evenly. Once that was done, I carefully removed the stencil and poured embossing powder over the top and heat set it. It does bubble, so don’t be alarmed thinking that it is ruined! I ended up by cutting off a little bit from the edges for a cleaner look.

I added the black focal piece to the embossed panel using foam squares. I also added a sprinkling of sequins for some added shine. The entire piece is adhered to an A2 black card base. I did spritz it with shimmer spray after I took my photos since it can be distracting. Thanks for joining me today!
