July Guest Designer ~ Carisa Zglobicki

Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be sharing my second post with you this month as a Guest Designer for SugarPea Designs. I had so much fun creating my card this week using a couple items from the June release!

I started by creating my background panel with watercolors. I knew I would be playing with the Let’s Flamingle Clear Stamp set so I wanted to keep my background cool and beachy so I went with blues and greens. While that was drying, I pulled out the matching SugarCut Let’s Flamingle Dies. I started by die cutting the entire set of dies on white cardstock because whatever I didn’t use on my card today I could save for another project (plus, I’m a lazy stamper and just didn’t want to cut apart all the dies! Haha) Then I pulled out different shades of pink ink pads as well as a black and peachy color. It is so easy to stamp on the precut pieces because they are clear. I love how you get different options for legs. I love the traditional flamingo pose with the one leg down so that’s the one I chose. I also thought it would be fun to stamp the palm tree as a silhouette in the background. Then I stamped my sentiment and since my daughter’s birthday was last week and she loved this stamp set so much when I opened the package, I chose the birthday sentiment with her in mind.

Once I was happy with everything, I assembled the pieces of my flamingo using foam dots starting with the legs which I adhered directly to the watercolor paper. I don’t really like putting a watercolor panel with so much white space on a white card base because watercolor paper is more cream or off white colored and it doesn’t match. Since I wasn’t home with all my cardstock, I took the same pink ink I used for the body of the flamingo and rubbed it along the edge of my cardstock to make it pink. Now it matched perfectly and I loved it – will have to keep that technique in mind even when I am home! Then I mounted my watercolor panel on my card base using foam tape. Easy peasy and I love how the finished card looks.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and I can’t wait to be back next week to share some inspiration using the June release!

Thanks,
