July Guest Designer ~ Carisa Zglobicki

Hi everyone! I am excited to be back with you again this week as a Guest Designer for SugarPea Designs. I had so much fun creating my card this week using more  items from the June release! These just might be my favorite!

I was thrilled that I received the Pucker Up stamp set and matching SugarCut dies in my happy mail. I love sweet tea and lemonade and that little lemon getting squeezed (to death as my daughter says and erupts into giggles) totally got me. I was on a HUGE lemon water kick before I got pregnant (funny how taste buds change instantly – I can’t drink it now because it’s insta heartburn city) and got one of those exact kind of squeezer thingies for my birthday this year! Anyhoo, my hubby takes his lunch every day and recently my girls started making his sandwiches and they add these cute little notes with it (which I never did!) so I felt the pressure to start adding my own little notes and this set was the perfect way to whip up some quickie little notecards just for that.

I started by cutting watercolor paper down to 4”x4” to fit on my 4.25”x4.25” card base. Then I picked out some Distress Oxide colors because like many of you, I’m obsessed with these inks and went to town with one of my favorite techniques to use with them. I just smooshed the ink pads directly on my craft mat, sprayed with water and pressed my watercolor paper into it. Super easy backgrounds done! The colors I used are Fossilized Amber, Worn Lipstick, Squeezed Marmalade and Wilted Violet, Cracked Pistachio, Broken China. While those were drying, I stamped my images with Versafine Onyx Black ink to watercolor also with Distress Oxide inks. I used mostly the same colors with the addition of Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain. It’s always great to have the matching Pucker Up SugarCut Dies especially with smaller images like the ones in this set.

I thought my background needed a little more especially after I stamped my sentiments on so I just added some grey ink splatters. Now all I had to do was adhere my backgrounds to the card base and my images with some foam adhesive. How cute are these little note cards! I seriously need to make more, right!?

I filmed my process for you guys this week. I hope you’ll enjoy watching these come together and give this technique a try if you haven’t already! You can watch the video HERE or on my YouTube channel.

I hope you enjoyed my cards today and I’ll see you next week for my final card this month!

Thanks,

Carisa

Those are super cute cards! I’d not seen these stamps – they’re adorable. I love the backgrounds you created to pair with each stamp. Fun cards – I’m sure your hubby (or anyone) would love these! Thanks for sharing!
