July Guest Designer ~ Carisa Zglobicki

Good morning everyone!

Are you all ready to celebrate 4th of July? Some of us have been trecking in the Capital and others are slowly preparing for family gatherings! But in the meantime, while don’t you stand back and relax while we introduce you to our new guest designer for July!

My name is Carisa and I am SO excited to be guest designing with SugarPea Designs this month. I began coloring and making cards in about 2009. Since then I’ve fallen in love with mixed media and watercoloring.  You can find me on my blog at Inky Fairy Designs as well as follow me on Instagram and YouTube where I love to share works in progress and process videos. I am a bit of a hot mess (comes with the territory of having 4 kids and another one on the way in November!) but when I remember to submit my cards for publication, I’ve been lucky to have work published in magazines such as CardMaker, Stamper’s Sampler , Take Ten and Scrapbook and Cards Today. I hope you are inspired by my cards this month and I want to thank SugarPea Designs once again for this fun honor!

I’m so excited to be sharing my first post with you this month as a Guest Designer for SugarPea Designs. With such an amazing release last month it was hard to decide where to start but I went with a little bit of an earlier release using Watt’s Up. I can’t help but fall for a great pun!

I started by stamping with Ranger Embossing Ink to emboss with white embossing powder. Since I was planning to watercolor, I used my MISTI tool to stamp making sure I got a good solid impression before heat embossing my image. I love using white embossing powder when watercoloring but it just makes it pop. I’m a little Distress Oxide obsessed lately (who isn’t) so I pulled out my favorite colors right now: Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio and Faded Jeans. For the hearts I used Worn Lipstick. Now, to be honest, I only have the Distress Oxide reinkers so I put a TINY dot on my craft mat and then add some water and start watercoloring. A teensy bit goes a long way. I  blend and add water until I’m happy and then dry my panel before die cutting. I didn’t plan it but was thrilled when I realized my background matched perfectly with this adorable plaid pattern paper from the newest Happy Camper Paper Collection! I love these paper pads so much because they fit a standard A2 card perfectly (which just happens to be the only card size I make!) For a finishing touch, I added some sequins from the Lily White Sparkly Shaker Selection. Easy Peasy!

I hope you enjoyed my card today and I can’t wait to be back next week to share some inspiration using the June release!

We are so thrilled to have Carisa join us this month and can’t wait to see what she’s up to next!

I absolutely love the glow you created with your oxide reinkers.
The beautiful background sets off the lightbulb image and the pun!

I look forward to your future posts!
