Light Bulb Moments

Good Morning! Ardyth here with the next Light Bulb Moment!

I decided to make a card inspired by the current Mix it Up Challenge (have you played yet? You could win a $50 Gift Certificate if you use SugarPea Designs products on your entry!!)

I focused on the photo side of the challenge – specifically, the colours and wintry feel.

Here’s a step-by-step tutorial with tips:

Using the TreeScape die, cut a grey panel and a white panel (you can save the off cuts to make a similar card with the colours reversed). Think about how much ‘sky’ vs ‘snow’ you want when deciding how far up the panel to cut (see below).

Using the snowflakes from Snowflake Tag die set, Cut one large and two small in white. Then cut them out of the grey panel (make sure you are happy with placement!)

Turn your panels over and adhere white and grey together and cover the snowflake ‘holes’ with double-sided adhesive sheets (or any kind of sticky tape – you want to creat a sticky surface for your white snowflakes to ‘land’ on).

Turn your combined panel over and inlay the white snowflakes. Carefully add back in the grey negative pieces. I used a tool with a sticky end to make this easier.

Turn your panel back over and go over it with a bone folder (or even just your hand). This step helps ensure that all the little bits are well stuck.

Stamp your sentiment (mine is from Flurry of Warm Wishes). Here’s where I looked at the panel and thought that I didn’t quite have the balance of sky to snow correct. I cut it down to a square and mounted it onto a dark gray card base using foam tape.

Embellish as you like. I added some clear crystals for sparkle.

All done!

Hi, I’m new here but loving every minute of it so far! I guess I’m confused on the challenge but would love to play along. So, the cards using the Stay Strong set that I’ve been paying on the FB page, do those qualify as a picture side entry and if so, do they qualify by posting there? Thanks!
