May Your Holidays Be Merry & Bright

Before we get to today’s post, we’d like to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Hi there, Nicole here with a clean and simple card for you.

When it comes to making christmas cards, I love turning to the clean and simple cardmaking style. As I need many many christmas cards, it is not always possible to make one time-consuming project after another. This style allows me to save a bit of time and still have some cute happy mail to send to friends and family.

This card is super simple but still not boring (at least in my opinion). All I did was picking a super cute image, colored it and added some little details. But let’s start from the top.

Clean and simple cards usually have a lot of white and open space. This comes in handy with christmas cards because all the white instantly looks like snow when you put a happy little creature or scene on it. This group of cuties was just perfect because I got a little scene in one go (no masking needed). The adorable image is a wonderful focal point just on its own.

I went for the (for me) fastest way to color images, which is with alcohol markers. I kept the color palette simple with neutrals and only three other colors. The coloring was the most time-consuming part of the project but nothing to detailed or complicated.

To finish up my card with some little extras, I drew some shadows where the critters stand to create some ground. Then, I added a bunch of ink blended snowflakes with a stencil and a mini sponge dauber. Stencils are also a great way to save time but add a little something-something. You can’t see it on the photo but I also added black gel pen to the eyes of the critters. This makes them look more alive.

You could easily make a bunch of cards like this. I hope you got inspired.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

have a happy day,

Nicole
