Hi! I’m Taheerah. I’m a geek. And I like to make stuff.

I live in the UK with my wonderful cats, and I work in IT, building and testing software. I’m a scientist at heart (I have a degree in Astrophysics), but I’ve always also been creative. I like to balance all the technical, thinking work I do in my day job with doing something with my hands, which is where crafting comes in! I love combining designs/products in think-outside-the-box ways, as well as mixing it up with a varied style and capitalising on the latest trends. I’d love it if you stopped by my site and learned more about me!

Thanks, Taheerah!  Now, let’s take a look at a gorgeous card that she created for us today and see how she went about designing it.

Hi everyone! Thanks for joining me today to kick off my Guest Design spot for Sugar Pea Designs!
Now that we’re seeing off Summer (*sniff!*) and rushing towards the end of the year, you can’t help but notice that ‘PSL Season’ (Pumpkin Spice Latte) is everywhere you look! Whether you’re a coffee drinker or not (I’m not) it’s almost unavoidable to hear the chat about whether you love them or not! There certainly seems to be a collection of people who love pumpkin spice all round, and that’s the type of people this card is for:

Fun, right?! I absolutely *love* the Coffee To Go Cup SugarCuts dies – it’s the most realistic looking coffee cup die out there in my opinion! I wanted to create something that evoked the sense of Autumn, so I opted for watercolouring a little pumpkin-like orange onto my cup, and stamping the ‘Caffeine Addict’ label (from the Caffeine Addict stamp set) over the top of it! I die cut the lid from some striped patterned paper and then pressed it into a brown inkpad to tie the colours in but keep some of that stripey pattern peeking through!

I know that coffee lovers everywhere would despair if they spilt their precious brew like I have on this card, lol! I mixed up a brownish watercolour using ink from my inkpad, diluted it, and then pressed my cardstock panel into it to create the spilt effect! I tapped my coffee stain stamp into the same mix and then stamped the stains over the top. A little splatter, a label maker sentiment, and some sequins finish off this seasonal card!
I do hope you love this card as much as I loved making it! I’ll be back next week with something new to share!

Taheerah; I’m thoroughly smitten with your fabulous PSL card! From the ‘spilt’ to go cup, pouring out its “precious’ brew, to the ensuing ‘stains’, to the lovely autumn palette (love that pumpkin colour)…this is sheer delight! Yes, I can tell you had fun designing this…it’s infused with joy (and yumminess!)
