Caring Hearts Card Drive | Special Release

Hi SugarPeeps!!  We are all so excited about today’s special release!!

This special release has been almost a year in the making. Vera Yates, Chaitali Narla and I have been busily working behind the scenes putting together a special mini release for this years upcoming Caring Hearts Card Drive. I have really loved working together with these amazing and generous ladies.

This will be the 7th year that Vera (the mastermind behind the card drive) and her team of volunteers will set out to collect handmade cards from October 1st to November 25th to give to those that live in nursing homes across the country.  Vera will have all of the details up on her blog (HERE) starting on October 1st.

Heart-Blog-Seperater

There’s so much to love about this release, but I would have to say that what I love the most, is how all SIX products work together so beautifully and effortlessly.  So much so, I had a hard to choosing which ones I wanted to play with.

sugarpea-designs-caring-critters-by-wendy-ramlakhan

I chose a patterned paper from the Countryside Charm paper pad that I layered on a kraft card base.  I sponged some Scattered Straw distress ink on white cardstock that I then cut with a Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle.  The stitched rectangle panel was added to the card front with a layer of SugarPuff underneath to create dimension.  I also cut the Kindness word from a sheet of SugarPuff to add texture and depth.

sugarpea-designs-caring-critters-close-up

I stamped and colored the moose image from Caring Critters with Copic markers and then cut it out using the coordinating SugarCuts – Caring Critters die.  Before adhering the image to the card front, I added a Mini Action Wobble Spring behind it for a little interactive fun.  To finish things off I stamped a sentiment from the Kindness Matters stamp set in Black Soot under the word die.

I was the hostess of a weekly Men’s Breakfast at our home. I was in need of some appliances to prepare the weekly fare, yet finances did not allow. One day when I returned home from some errands, there were 3 appliances on my front porch brand new in the packaging–a large roaster, an electric frying pan, and a waffle maker. I shall never forget that special act of kindness.

My husband does little things to help me out every day, including cooking a meal. That is always special. Now that my parents are here with me, they tend to do a lot of things just do that I can concentrate on the kids.
I love to pay things forward with my cards. I volunteer on 1/2 day school time for the kindergarten lunch. This makes me happy as I love to see the kids’ faces and their smiles.

I was very surprised to find a cookie from one of my teachers one morning. You might it’s nothing but it really made my day! I was deep into assignments and I had a horrible night from not enough sleep. She brought a smile to my face on that morning and from there on, I do the same to my students. Thanks Mrs R.

The most recent, and incredibly small gesture, was I was at the grocery store with a coupon for free eggs I wasn’t going to use. I saw a gentleman with eggs in his cart so I handed it to him. This man was so thankful! He said “my wife is going to think I’m a genius!” He even stopped me later in the store and thanked me again. It made me smile and I just laughed…it was only a couple dollar savings but the gesture made his day. I love these – every single one of them. We need to send our circle more cards about kindness and spread the feeling!

Just a smile will make anyone friendly.. When i was working in an institute away from my home it was hard.. i always tried to greet and smile at the guard at the gate.. One day when i was not well they asked me and told to take care.. It was the effect of JUST ONE SMILE.. they dont need anything just a recognition ..

What a great cause! I remember the first time I was RAK’d in the line at Starbucks. I was so dumbfounded that I didn’t pay it forward right then, but I have since and it is so fun!!

    What a great cause!
I think one of the very first RAK was that a person in front of my daughter in line at Dunkin Donuts paid for our breakfast. It was so sweet we just do it often, but it inspired me to pay better ttention and just not do things for those who can pay for their own breakfast. In the dollar store I saw a very young family shopping for what truly looked like essentials, were talking baby bottles and canned vegetables, so I bought them a gift card and gave it to the cashier for when they checked out. It was right before the holidays last year so I hope it made at least a small difference.

I just LOVE the entire set of stamps and dies! plus the idea behind the card drive is amazing! 🙂

for my RAK idea, when I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer 4 years ago, I received so many beautiful cards from all over the world. I wanted to be able to pass along that wonderful feeling with others in some way, so I set up a box of blank, handmade cards for all sorts of holidays & occasions at my oncologist’s office for others going through chemo to take as they wanted. I made sure to put a sign on the front that let everyone know that the cards were free and they were welcome to take whatever they liked. it was a huge hit and I ended up making another box for their other office. several of my friends sent cards to help keep it replenished.

once my chemo finished, I continued to take cards by so that the box would always stay filled.

Wendy, I have to say, until this summer, I have not realized how few sentiments I have for encouragement cards. My Dad is terminal and I have been trying to send both he and my mother regular encouragement cards to help keep up their spirits. They have been enjoying them but because of this hop, I have gained some awesome ideas.
These new sets are AMAZING and cudos to you, Vera, Chaitali and everyone else involved in making this happen. Kindness DOES matter to all of us and it is always a good thing when you pass it on!
Thanks for all that you do to make a difference!

What a great cause and I just love your kindness in sharing your care by donating to such a worthwhile cause. The die of the word Kindness is perhaps my favourite along with the kindness matters stamp set, I can see myself using that heaps. For my RAK I had to pay for a 2 hour parking ticket, whilst I was just picking up my new glasses. When I came out it still had 1 hour and 45 minutes left so I gave it to the person waiting to park in my spot when I left. it was an elderly man and he was so chuffed and couldn’t thank me enough. Have fantastic weekend. Cheers Donna Z 🙂

There was a time in my life where i was going through a lot! Money was not avaliable and i was trying to take an exam so they i could get a better job in the field that i wanted my career. An anonymous person (i believe my boss) at the restaurant that i was working at left my a gift with the money to take the test. This meant so much to me and i believe that one reason that im where i am today! This inspires me to help others because you never know where it may lead them!

I was having a bad day and needed something “greasy”. Ordered a cheesburger through the drive thru – pulled up to pay and was told the person in front of me covered my purchase. It was less than $2.00, but it immediately lifted my spirits more than the greasy burger did. What a wonderful idea. I’ve paid forward twice now and feel better even then I did when I was the recipient. You never know how an act of kindness or a thoughtful word might change someone’s life.

I once went through a Starbucks line and found when it was time to pay, that someone else had already paid my bill. I was touched so much as I wasnt having the best of days that day. So one day I was in the drive through at McDonalds. It was one of those double drive through. I ended up getting ahead of a truck that was actually there in the other lane before me. When I got to the windo to pay, I asked to pay their bill. Come to find out, they were feeding a whole family, so the bill wasnt so small…but it felt good to pay it forward. The girl who took my money was in amazement and even cried. I just told her to remember her turn one day, even a small little gesture could make someone else’s day! My hopes in doing this is that others will see how a little bit of kindness goes a long way, and to encourage them to also share some kindness.

By the way, I love what you are doing. I use to work at an assisted living, in the memory care unit. That was my most rewarding job and toughest job ever. My heart was with everyone of those families, and I felt as though each one of my patients were also my family. Thank you for sharing your kindness to those who truely do need it!

I am blessed with two healthy children so I make sympathy cards for the nurses to give out to grieving families at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. It’s emotionally difficult to think about people that have lost a child, but it makes me appreciate mine even more. Keep up the great work.

The other day I was in a rush to our town country fair where I was supposed to be volunteering at a table for our club. On the way there was a little stray puppy running at the side of the road. I stopped the car and picked up the puppy and posted his photo on FB. Within 40 minutes the puppy was home with his family. I felt so happy that I took the time to make sure the puppy was safe. It is all part of trying to do the right thing. The ladies of my club understood that I was late to help out.

I recall a time when I was in the drive through line at my local Dunkin Donuts and when I went up to the window to pay the employee informed me that the previous car had paid for my coffee! I was so thankful! The next time I went through the drive through I did the same and paid for the car’s coffee order behind me. 🙂 It’s always so wonderful to pass on kindness, certainly the random ones! 😀

What a beautiful release and fabulous cause!! I adore your generous heart! Living in a farming community, kindness abounds. Not a day goes by that I don’t witness a kind gesture, and I’m often on the receiving end. The other day my friend gave me 4 new guineas to add to my flock when she could have sold them. And another friend is giving my sister-in-law a donkey! We try to pay it forward whenever we can – I’m always sending in canned goods, produce, pecans, etc to the office with my hubby to share. We just purchased a table at a farm-to-table dinner for a local charity and invited a bunch of friends to join us. <3

What a fabulous release! And for such a good cause. Your card is just adorable, too! RAK: our house is on the corner which means a LOT of shoveling/snowblowing in the winter. Last winter the neighbor two doors down came over to help me with the corner section of the sidewalk which was three feet of packed snow. So, after we finished, I continued up to the neighbors behind me and did their sidewalk and driveway.

I love this so much!! When I was a struggling college student I was having a very hard time in my Calculus class. I looked into getting a tutor, but couldn’t afford one. A couple from my church came up to me one night and told me they were going to pay for my tutoring. I tried to say no (I was very independent) but they would not accept my refusal. Now that I’m older and things aren’t so tight financially, I always try to be generous in my giving of $ to special causes.

I have really enjoyed this hop along with all of the amazing inspiration found using these products!! What has encouraged me to donate and keep paying it forward is when I heard/read a story about a person actually receiving a handmade card from someone and how it made them feel when they received it. It touched my heart so much that I wanted to be able to make someone feel that way about something I sent to them. People seem to be so impressed with something given to them that was hand-made. I think it shows caring for someone else and that’s always been important for me.

All I can think about when you ask about a RAK that made me pay it forward was my Mom, who sadly passed away unexpectedly when she was 57 yrs old. I would have to say without a doubt that it was my Mom who always reinforced to me that the only thing that can heal anyone from inner pain is through kindness. She taught me to always respect my elders and through her I have passed this onto my children. I do try to make a conscious effort to live by this rule because sometimes we can just get caught up in our own lives.

Thank you so much for your generosity in this very important cause SP! And for your inspiration – your card is adorable!

Back when I first started crafting, I was visiting my mom and together, we took some my cards (that looking back were not that jazzy whatsoever as I was so much a beginner!) over to the seniors’ residence where she’s been a volunteer for 36 years. The volunteer, responsible for birthday cards had run out (realized that when she arrived at the little gift shop kiosk) and needed a couple cards that day. Mom showed her mine and her positive, encouraging, appreciative response blew me away! To this day, nearly 60% of my cards go to the residence, where they’re sold (low cost for the residents and care-givers). The money, in turn, remains with my mom’s volunteer group who uses the money for special purchases for the residents. For the past three years, I’ve also made Christmas cards to be sold at their annual Christmas Bazaar, with the money remaining with the volunteers. My sister-in-law receives at least 30% of my cards (tags, etc.) which she shares with my niece and nephew’s classmates, teachers and educational aides, as well as her staff and friends. Of the remaining 10%: each month, I send one (at least…) to each of my niece and nephew, as well as to other family and friends. That first RAK – or rather, random act of enthusiasm – has paved the way for me to continue to pursue this passion. I don’t need to make money selling my cards; my reward comes from knowing their bringing smiles to peoples’ faces and joy to their day. That’s really all that matters…Thank you for reminding us that kindness really does matter! Love this release!

Your card is adorable! And love the release for such a wonderful cause. My grand daughters have shared my love crafting with my two grand daughters since they were born and one day I was explaining to them about random acts of kindness and how one of my friends went out one day and did 10 random acts of kindness to strangers. My youngest grand daughter was about to have your 6th b’day and when I asked for her b’day list, she told me the only thing she wanted was for me to make up 6 random acts she could do with her parents for strangers. I was very touched and that is what I did, and she and her parents went out and had a very blessed day doing for others on her b’day. The next month was her sister’s b’day and she asked for the same. To this day that is a very special memory for me. 🙂 Thanks for sharing and for creating these wonderful stamps. Have a blessed day!

How very cute! Love the stamps and the card, will definitely be ordering these.

One RAK that stands out in my mind, was simply a kind word from a stranger. I was in Target with my oldest son, he was around 2 and throwing a horrible tantrum (over fruit snacks, lol). I was getting upset and near tears. An older woman came over and told me to not worry, everyone goes through this kind of thing. It really made a difference to me that day! And now, I always try to have a kind word for someone who looks like they need it.

A soldier was in Iraq with my husband and while there his wife ran off with someone, abandoned his 2 girls and destroyed his home. All at Christmas time. I took it upon myself to fix this problem. With help from some of his relatives, our town through donations I was able to give this soldier a home instead of a messed up house to come home to, gave his beautiful Christmas in February (they missed Christmas due to mother leaving them with a stranger) and found out from the soldier that my act of kindness also brought his entire family back together. They weren’t speaking prior to this. Seeing the smiles on his daughters and the soldier upon returning home is all I needed. Years later after we were struck by a tornado and going through repairs one of our contractor’s and his crew wanted to thank myself and my husband for our service to our country and presented us with 2 medal plaque’s one reading U.S. Air Force for me and U.S. Army for my husband to apply to our new beautiful rod iron fence in the front of our home. I cried because I had never had anyone do anything so thoughtful before. So an act of kindness does go along way and it might not be today, next month or next year but eventually it makes a full circle.

Thankyou. What wonderful stamp sets and fabulous cause. My RAK. I let my niece cut off my pony tale. She was scared to have her hair cut. She spend a lot of time I hospital and it was getting to long to manage. To encourage her I let her cut mine first. I was telling this to my hair dresser as I had to cut straight. When I went to pay for the hair cut she told me the lady who was in the chair next to me had already paid for my cut and left. I felt so blessed and happy. I couldn’t even thank her but went back and left a card for her when she came in next time. I then went for coffee and felt so elated I paid for the coffee of the person behind me in the line. Hoping they would have that same feeling. They did. The lady came and told me she paid for the next persons. I went all through the week smiling. And hoping the coffee RAK went on all day.

What beautiful sets for an amazing cause. I can’t wait to contribute! I once received cleats for my child from a family who saw that I was struggling at that time as a single mother to obtain all necessary baseball items. I have never forgotten that so now that I am up and running, for the past two years I buy two sets of cleats and give one to a boy that needs a new pair.

It is wonderful to see all the stamp sets with sentiments that engender Kindness. My mother always loved cards and acknowledged everyone’s birthday…until her Alzheimer’s disease took her memory. I was touched by the many people who appreciated that about her and sent her beautiful cards to brighten her day when she was in the assisted living facility.
I plan to order the Kindness Matters stamp set to use in my seniors art class at the community center.

the first Rak I was a recipient of was when just 5 years old. My family moved to Germany with the army, arriving at the new base on Christmas eve. When we got the our new apt in base housing, after traveling by car all day, some kind stranger had put up a Christmas tree in our apt- decorated and with a few gifts under it. My mother commented for years afterward that she never found out who did it- it wasn’t done by the military. She had been so bummed that my 3 yr old brother and I would wake up on Christmas with no decorations and just one gift each that she had been able to carry on the plane. We were asleep when we arrived so Christmas morning we awoke in a new place with a gorgeous christmas waiting in the livingroom. I will never forget the lasting joy this unknown person gave my family.

As a mom of two I always like it when someone I do know offers encouragement or just lets me know they understand. Especially in a tough situation. So I try to make a point of exchanging a knowing smile or little quip with other parents that seem to be having one of those days. Just yesterday a single dad with two girls and having to take them two places in the morning because one is not old enough for preschool. I said it is a great day when you get one drop off/ pick up and even better when they are both at school! He smiled.

One Valentines Day my daughter, her two small sons and I did Random Acts of Kindness all over the valley. We took a plate of homemade cookies to the local fire department, left cup cakes for the nurses on the delivery floor where my grandson were born, gave a bag of sweet treats to a waitress that would be working on Valentines Day, secretly paid for a young couple’s dinner and left money at a gas station to help pay the next person’s gas bill. It was exciting to teach our little ones to show kindness and gratefulness to those you don’t even know but who give their services to us daily.

I feel very blessed this year…getting into my first DT gig (after so many years of working hard) and also finally getting a low key job in the same company I’ve been working for 15 years now. I thought that I was stuck with my old job forever. Not that I don’t love what I have been doing but given a choice, I would choose the current job I have. One day, at church, while I was attending my son’s bible distribution mass, I saw the school’s wish auction basket. One of the wishes written on a flower says ‘handmade cards.’ I can definitely provide that since I do have plenty, from all the cards I create for blog challenges and my current DT requirements. So, I donated my cards, made some custom sized envelopes, and also created a packaging that will hopefully encourage the buyers to bid on it. And help the school earn some money in my own little creative way.

Being single and caring for a disabled sister money is always a little tight and car repairs are right of the top of my “OMG!” list. One hot sultry day my air conditioner of the car started blowing out hot air. I had a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach before I even went to my local repair shop. The gentlemen working there were fantastic. They looked at the part, checked the warranty before replacing it and broke the repair down into terms I could understand and appreciate. I still had to pay the repair but I feel like they went the extra mile. So the next week I made them caramel corn. Boy were they surprised! When I explained how much I appreciated the extra time they took they said, “We’ve never had positive reinforcement before!” That made me feel good and they loved the caramel corn. All people, in all types of jobs, need to know they are appreciated!

These stories brought tears to my eyes. I was out sick from work on a Monday and when I arrived on Tuesday I had a beautiful handmade floral bouquet on my desk. My niece, who I work with, made it for me over the weekend. I was so thrilled for receiving this random gift, that I am making a few of these flower bouquets for some more of my co-workers. I love your card and totally fell in love with that adorable moose!! I have to get this set and will be thrilled to help out with the card drive.
One of my friends randomly sent me a “hello” card a few weeks back and included in it a wonderful set of stamps she wanted to share with me. Because of her kindness, it prompted me to give some thought to the idea. Last week I sent out three (“just because”) cards and each one included some “goodies” that I knew the recipient would enjoy and utilize. Hoping this will grow as those three will continue to do the same in the future.
It feels really good to do something special and unexpected for another person!!

What wonderful products you have! Your new release is so wonderful!

We received a wonderful RAK when we had only been married a few weeks. We had both just gotten our teaching positions, and, while the work was so gratifying, the salary was very low. We had skipped a honeymoon and couldn’t afford a tree for our first Christmas. New friends in our apartment building bought a tiny “Charlie Brown” tree and decorated it with cut out images from holiday cards they had received. Tears, smiles, and the holiday spirit of giving filled our tiny apartment. Now we make Santas with trees and nativities to bring smiles to faces and to pass along the kind gesture our neighbors shared with us!

My mom, who recently passed this summer, was living in a Independent/Assisted Living Facility for several years. Always seeing so many of the ‘residents’ smiling and being kind to all who visited. I had seen many residents going to their mail boxes, opening them and finding nothing…and the look of disappointment, saddened me. So, I decided to do something to return a smile to them. I decided that I would make the residents cards for them to enjoy. I make them cards just because everyone deserves a little ‘happy mail’. I enjoy doing this, knowing that they are getting a card and hopefully feel the love that goes into every card I send them. Everyone deserves a smile and know that they are being thought of. I will continue this tradition, because it makes me smile too.

A few years back when I was traveling in Japan I got lost and stopped a man to ask for directions. He didn’t have very good English but tried to help finding the museum I was going to on my map. After a moment he took out his phone, made a short call and asked me to follow him. He led me to an office building near by – apparently his place of work – where a young woman that worked with him waited. While he ran along to his meeting she took me a few streets away and pointed out the museum to me. I never forgot their kindness and willingness to help, I think of them every time someone asks me for directions and wish I had a way to thank them.
I love the idea of this card drive, and love this special release – it has such a great message!

S-w-e-e-t! I really like the look of the limited one-color background. It really brings the attention right to the darling little moose. Just the right amount of dimension, too. (I know you didn’t use it on this card, but I immediately fell in like with the cardiac rhythm strip with the little hearts. Is it too “nursy” or just fun??? I can’t even begin to pick out just one example of a sweet deed prompting a “pay it forward” deed. Too many to count. But my favorite is still a smile. It’s amazing how a kind word, or a smile, or a gentle pat can turn me around when I am in one of ‘those’ moods, and how easy it is to pass it on afterwards. Thanks for reminding me.

I just love this release and the reason behind it and that a portion of the proceeds is going to an organization.

I’ve always been a big believer in random acts of kindness and paying it forward. Last year our whole family designated it to be a year of giving and that’s just what we did. We donated to charities, I always bought coffee for the folks behind me, we bought several dinners for families while we were dining out, etc.

It’s always more fun to give than receive so we never expect anything in return although I have been very blessed to have some friends surprise me with sweet gifts or surprise lunches, etc.

I belong to a card making facebook group. We exchange cards once a month. lots of fun. But a few months ago one of the gals in the group sent me a package of stamping supplies and little extras – totally random – and it took me by surprise! SO, I then paid forward the kindness by sending ANOTHER gal in the group a package of goodies. It felt SO good!! I think several people in this group have copied us and send extras to other members just out of the kindness of their hearts. It’s heartwarming and uplifting. Thanks for your efforts to a great cause and for contributing some of your profits to Alzheimers.

I was in desperate search of a retired stamp and put an ISO out on a Facebook site I am a member of when a lovely lady responded saying she had the stamp and would be happy to part with it. She asked for my address details and I asked her how to go about payment. She said just to wait until the stamp arrived safely which I thought was a lovely gesture all on its own. When the stamp arrived there was a lovely RAK note inside just suggesting that I pay it forward to someone else. And I was so excited (and thankful) that I found someone who was looking for cat related stamps for her autistic son that I paid it forward with one that I had. It totally love the whole pay it forward concept (and love the movie too although a tear jerker).

Thank you for acknowledging how many lives Alzheimers affects … my Dad has the onset of it from a benign brain tumour and its devastating knowing that one day he won’t remember his own family. For anyone else in the same position, don’t give up hope that there are cures out there.

Many years ago my kids were very young and I was a single parent. I worked part time at their school. So during Christmas break I didn’t have any income. Christmas was a couple days away and I didn’t have extra money for a turkey and trimmings. A neighbor told me the Salvation Army was giving out turkeys and groceries to make Christmas dinner. I headed over with the kids, only to be turned away being told I didn’t “qualify”. We got home and the neighbor asked what did we get, I told her we didn’t qualify. The next morning my doorbell rang. When I opened the door, no one was there, but there was 3 bags of groceries and a turkey. I donate to food drives in stores, restaurants, and postal service (every May)

Every few months I sort through my art and craft supplies and pull out items that I have not used in a while and donate them to one of several non-profit organizations that provide programs that could use the goods – Hospice, Girls & Boys Clubs, County Children’s agency, etc. And every once in a while, I receive the most beautiful thank you note made by the children with all their names written in. Giving, feeds my soul for a few weeks, but receiving those notes feeds my soul for a lifetime.

After my grandson was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes one year ago, I sort of lost my way with stamping. I felt uninspired and couldn’t find an ounce of creativity. Last week I stopped at a garage sale and purchased a whole desk set, shelving, file cabinets, the works, which I knew if I could update my stamp room, I might just catch the stamping bug again. When I went back to pick it up, she asked me to sit with her and shared with me that she is easily exhausted since she has Lupus. I also know how painful and fatiguing Lupus can make you feel since my daughter has this disease. After talking further, I found out she is a single Mom with a daughter who has Type 1 Diabetes also. Since she had to be completely moved in 4 days, I offered to help her. I brought back my brother and husband and in 2 hours we had her packed up and she was ready for the cleaning service to come in. I feel our paths crossed for a reason. Being able to help her filled my heart. But, I also feel that she helped me..my stamp room is setup, I just found your site, and I’m ready to make some beautiful cards and send some smiles through the mail!

Such wonderful sentiments. My RAK happens at work. I am a nurse at the local hospital and go to the cafeteria to get my lunch. Several years ago, my refrigerator unexpectedly stopped working. Among co-workers, I was bemoaning the fact that this would be an unanticipated expense. The next day I received an envelope with considerable cash from one of them. Several weeks later I was able to pass on the assistance to a mother we all knew who was having trouble meeting her rent. It is always wonderful to pass on kindness!

When my son was born we were young and had limited funds. One day I received an enormous box of gently used boys clothing in the mail from my hairdresser back home. I cannot even begin to imagine how expensive that must have been to ship! Her kindness has led me to freely pass on gently used items from my kiddos to other families that could use them. It isn’t huge but hopefully it helps ease the minds of fellow Mamas 🙂

I am a teacher and one of our student’s mom was working in the school kitchen. She didn’t like the idea of us teachers having to buy coffee in the morning, so she started making a pot of it every morning at her own expense. Later that year, my colleague and I pitched in to buy her a gift card and I made a really beautiful pop up coffee card themed thank you card to go with it. She was so happy she had tears in her eyes.

This release and your support of two great causes is absolutely fantastic! Thank you.

Years ago several times after having survived breast cancer when I was back for scheduled checkups, I spent some time talking with other women/husband who were just starting their chemo treatments. I hope that the time I spent with them helped give them some support and made what they were going through easier.

It was the day before Easter and my car broke down about 100 miles from home. I had my 90 pound german shepherd with me. I managed to “limp” into a shop that was getting ready to close for the day. They took a look at my car, but it was beyond their scope. They didn’t charge me for looking at the car & they stayed open and waited with me until a tow truck could come to get me. They found a bowl somewhere and gave my dog some water because it was really hot that day. Then, the tow truck driver took me 100 miles home & even lifted my elderly dog in and out of the truck cab. He held her leash & walked her as I wrote a note to the local auto repair shop about my car & then he took me home. Both the people at the garage & the tow truck driver were absolutely wonderful to me that day. Kindness does matter.

I’m a stroke survivor so I have difficulty with lots of things but I experience random acts of kindness daily from my family. It started first with the stroke changing my mindset about life – when you survive that then everything is brighter and beautiful and better (after you get through the shock and depression initially) and you realize that the first person who needs to do random acts of kindness for you is YOU. We women don’t do that enough. I didn’t and I had a stroke. The next thing I realized was to try to see people’s hearts and their intentions and know they are all going through stuff. Changed my entire attitude. Then all of sudden random acts were happening all around me. Awesome!! Yes, the things my hubby and four grown kids (teenagers at the time) did and do for me is awesome – and my doggies too!!! But it’s also how I received it all and looked at it and I changed that made a difference. The kindness definitely matters – to ourselves, toward others, to receive it, towards animals, towards life. It makes the world better.

What a magnificent special release! I am loving it all, especially the kindness stamp set and those adorable critters! A random act of kindness that made me then pay it forward was one Christmas our church was holding a concert and dinner that my husband and I wanted to go to but couldn’t afford, then one day I got a call from the church saying they had some tickets in my name that needed to be picked up for the event. I of course explained I didn’t buy them and the lady said “well someone bought tickets for you”. Who ever it was that purchase those tickets we’re truly very kind and did such a generous kind act because not only were they expensive but we truly had wanted to attend that event. Then one day we paid it forward when someone we knew wanted to attend an event that they couldn’t afford but it just so happened we could afford it for them so we purchase tickets for them. So now, we continue to pay it forward wether it be a small gesture or large we learned first hand that a little bit of kindness can mean the world to someone.

Its great to see stamps and dies that can be used for so much more than the usual occasions. Not sure if this qualifies as a random act of kindness, though I guess it is kindness to the environment – I pick up rubbish on my walk to and from the train station. I do need to get myself a rubbish pick or grabbing stick though 🙂

What a wonderful hop and fabulous product release! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful goodies and inspiration with us. I think, appropriately, one RAK is that for the last 2 years I have helped to distribute the cards from the Caring Hearts Drive. All the kindness the people have shown by donating cards has been passed on to the people in the Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home and Rehab Center and The Sacred Heart Adult Home, where my Mom lives. Each year Mom is excited to show me what she receives and tell me where it’s came from. Although Mom is lucky and has family and friends that visit and send cards, many of the people don’t and I can’t tell you how much they appreciate the cards that are delivered to them each year. Hopefully I will be able to distribute them again this year.
Thanks again for this fabulous hop and helping with the card drive.

I believe everyday someone by my side always gives little acts of kindness and i hope i have passed them on. Sharing and caring is always wonderful. Yesterday, it may not be much to someone else but just a little hand in helping me out in climbing warmed my heart greatly. Today while i was volunteering, i managed to help out another in the same way and gave her a hand. Thank you for sharing kindness!

Hi Wendy, love your card design. Thank you for sharing. I’m loving Sugarpea’s Designs and those caring critters and sentiments would bring joy to anyone’s day. This is such a wonderful initiative that Vera and you ladies are doing and also a wonderful thing for Sugarpea Designs to do by helping Alzheimers. I thought about my own random acts of kindness and they all seem so trivial compared to this. What this great initiative has made me do is think about my own acts of kindness, so I’ve sent messages of love to all of our family and friends today whilst blog hopping. It’s a start. In the past I’ve donated clothes and items to various groups in need and whenever I can, I donate to people in need, including giving away breakfast boxes to the homeless. It doesn’t seem enough so I will rethink on how I can do more. Thank you for this blog hop and for making me become a better person. I shall be purchasing this set so I know I’m helping in some small way. Happy days and weekend to you all.

    My RAK story:
My cc company cancelled my cc when they accidentally flagged a purchase I made a couple hours before as fraudulent. Not knowing this, I had gone out to get some groceries, and to my surprise, my card was declined. I was all ready to walk away when the person behind me offered to pay for it. I was shocked and said I can’t accept, but he insisted. Since then I would randomly buy strangers their lunch or coffee or whatever whenever I feel like it.

When my our first child was born 18 years ago, I knew he was not like any babies I had ever babysat. He would power-nap when he was an infant and was fussy all of the time. He walked at 6 and would barely play or do something for a couple of minutes before he would start fussing again. I had my suspicions that he could be one of those ADHD kids who can’t pay attention or sit still. I didn’t think it was too much of a problem until he began having meltdowns. We would quickly learn that ADHD wasn’t always just a distracted kid moving all the time. After being kicked out of our church’s preschool at the age of 3, his therapist (yes, things were so bad we were taking him to a child psychologist already) told us he needed to go to a therapeutic school. We were devastated. Things just keep getting worse. By this time we had another son and a daughter. When he started public school, we began to deal with his educational needs and his behavior through special education. It wasn’t long before we learned that ADHD can also include learning challenges and any number of other problems. We quickly became lost in the school district’s wonderland of special education. There was so much we didn’t know about his diagnosis and especially the ins and outs of special ed. My husband and I began attending an ADHD parent support group about 45 minutes from our house. I listened, I asked questions, and I learned everything I could about what was going on in his ADHD brain. Trying to work with the school district to get special education services for our son, it became apparent that I had to also learn about the law. My husband and I searched the Internet looking for a training on the law and dealing with the school. Within a month I was on a flight to Toledo to attend a well-known two day training. Reflecting on my weekend on the flight home, I realized I knew so much, but still had more to learn. So I kept attending trainings and conferences wherever and whenever I could. Not long after my return from Toledo, I agreed to start a parent support group meeting in our suburb of West Houston. For more 10 years I have been coordinating and moderating the support group in the west Houston area. It had become time for me to help others who were as lost and scared as we were when we began our ADHD journey with our son’s challenges so it’s my turn to give to others. So now I am the one speaking at trainings and the resource for parents who call me for help about their child’s ADHD issues, comorbid conditions, learning problems, behavior, having no friends, and so on. When parents have an IEP meeting, I will go in order to help them get what they need for their child, to show them how an IEP meeting works, and to explain what their rights are on behalf of their child. But the most important thing I can do for a parent of an ADHD child is to listen to them, reassure them when they’re crying and/or scared, and tell them that I understand how isolating, lonely, and frightening having a child with a challenge can be. I know. I’ve been there, and I still am.

    This release is ADORABLE,
My RAK is always thanking our service men when I see them -retired or not. they are easy to spot because they usually have a baseball hat or t-shirt with the service logo or name of the branch of service they were in. I think it is SOOOOOO very important to recognize them for keeping us safe, whether it was years ago or now. Without them we could so easily be like the other countries we see in the news being bombed or without food. I do not think they are appreciated by our own country or our general population enough.

Everyone, please thank a vet or active serviceman when you see one, it takes no effort and very little time but is so rewarding to them You will be surprised and pleased to see the smile light their faces by just saying thank you!

I read a story about people treated servers at drive-through, restaurants, etc. as if they were sort of invisible. So I try to always say thanks and make eye contact as we make the transaction. It may not make much difference to most of them, but to some it may and I am reminded that everyone deserves to to be treated with dignity.

I was driving to my parents house one night when I saw a car broken down on the highway with two girls standing outside the car. I got off the highway and turned around to get to the other side of the highway to see if I could help them. They said if I could drive them to their house which wasn’t too far from mine, they would get their brother to help them with the car. I put them in my car and drove them home and they tried to pay me for the ride. I told them to just pay it forward to someone else they see in need one day and that would be my payment. Since that day I have had so many RAC’s in my life given to me. It just proves what you put out into the universe is repaid 100 fold.

I absolutely LOVE this release, and would love to use it to make some of my cards this year, too! One year, about a month before Christmas, the clutch in our car up and quit. We were stopped at a red light, right in front of the most busiest intersection in the city, on a late Saturday afternoon, just as the city was scrambling to get to the Alabama football game. The city is always in complete commotion right before a game. We had decided that all we could do was just push the car across the intersection as fast as we could when the light turned green, and pray that we made it. The light changed, my husband my pushing, and I was in the driver’s seat as person after person had passed us, shouting things out their open windows. But they were shouting, “We’re sorry we can’t help you, but we can’t stop in this traffic!” Or, “we wish we could help you!” We were inching forward very slowly across 8 lanes of traffic when all of a sudden I heard a loud thump on the back of the car and looked in the rearview mirror. A HUGE man, big and tall, had joined my husband and they were pushing together, and the car sped forward at an amazing pace. It was picking up momentum and we crested over a slight hill and then picked up speed. I was able to steer the car into the Chinese restaurant parking lot, turn the corner, and pull into the spot before breaking. Before we got going, my husband and the man, who was black, had pushed me forward and then I outpaced them, and they were in the middle of the street, bent over and out of breath. Amazingly, the traffic had cleared behind them too. When I got out of the car, I wanted to thank the man and offer to buy him a beverage at the restaurant, but he had disappeared as quickly as he had appeared. My husband said he came out of nowhere and disappeared just as quickly. This was right after the incidents in Ferguson, and tensions were high across the country. But here, in our Southern community, people were still coming through for each other. Maybe it was because a tornado had destroyed a large part of our city and our community had already learned how important it was to come together. After that, I became committed to helping out whoever I could, wherever they were, even if it was hard or inconvenient.

Unfortunately, we have a lot of homeless people in our area and they are on every street corner every day. Some come in to my store to buy beer & cigarettes rather than food. But you just have to look past that and know that they’re just trying to survive a day in their life. So I give them what I can, when I can. you just never know how or why someone ended up being homeless.

Vera cause is wonderful and I plan on joining in this year as so many people need some kindness everyday, one way or another. It is small thing to do and can mean so much to the receiver. Over the years I have received many blessing from prayers from people I don’t know, but they were there and I thank God that they like to pray. I know my prayer list each day grows and grows and I don’t mind adding one more prayer for someone that needs them. Now I also know that people like to smile and I think that with this card making, many, many people will have those smiles on their faces. Thanks so much for doing your part in this this cause,

Love these stamps and dies especially the critters! My daughter is a teacher and doesn’t make very much money. Notwithstanding her income, she loves to do special things for her students. To help her out, I make cards, holiday treat bags and other little gifts for her to give to her students.

When I was new to crafting, a wonderful lady whose blog I used to visit, send me a huge box of stamping goodies and that too from overseas. I was so overwhelmed that I had decided to pay it forward someday. I finally was able to send a huge box of crafting goodies to my fellow newbie crafter and it felt really good. I plan to send one box every 6 months now
I love love the new sets.. for sure buying some for me.

Lovely card! Not so random but when I couldn’t get after school care for my daughter, my neighbour picked her up with her daughter one day a week for a whole year.

Many years ago when we first moved to Missouri and living paycheck to paycheck, we had our home broke into. The thief must have been worse off than we, he only took our food. We had two small children and now an empty cupboard and payday was not until another 8 days. One of our neighbors now a dear friend went to the grocery and bought us enough food to last until payday after getting wind of what had happened.
We counted our blessing then and count her as one every day. We think often of the thief and wish for him a friend like ours. We try to pay forward by collecting weekly during the Holiday season for our area food pantry by playing our instruments and singing carols at one of the store locations that allow, a holiday tradition.

What a precious release and cause! My fav is the heartbeat!! Your card is adorably sweet!
The most recent RAK was in the Starbucks drive through last week I was told my frap was paid for by the lady in front of me because someone had paid for hers the day before. I tried catching up to her to thank her, but she was long gone. Truly anonymous and sweet! Another day I was able to pass it on to the person behind me.

What a fabulous release and for a wonderful cause. Living in Alaska, I think my favorite from the new release is Caring Critters set and matching die. The moose is adorable and your card is so sweet.

A few years ago I was part of a stamping group and one of the member was so sweet to send me a birthday card. We had never met and I was so touched. Now I send birthday cards to my team mates on a current design team. I hope it brightens their day as much as her card did for me.

I love the critters stamp set (especially the monkey and moose) and the whole catalyst behind it. Spreading kindness, something that is always uplifting. A small thing I do, and has happened to me, that always reminds me to spread happiness and kindness is sharing my cart at Aldi grocery store. I don’t collect my quarter deposit for the cart, instead I pass it on to someone in the parking lot just arriving and ask them to pay it forward with a helpful gesture to a stranger.

The movie Pay It Forward touched and moved me that I started consciously to RAK in 2000. It’s important for me to acknowledge special occasions for all of my friends/work family/church members/etc. It’s uncomfortable to share the things I do as it gives me greater joy to do for them. Thank you all for the beautiful stamps and dies.

I enjoyed getting a gift card from a company that has a very wide variety of merchandise and got some things our family needed. Then I ordered some KMR for kittens at The Cat House on the Kings,( an animal Rescue) and another smaller Animal Sanctuary that I follow online. It was so fun to share with people helping animals!

One of the more ‘popular’ cardmakers in blog land and YouTube was kind enough to send a friend of mine an encouragement card after my friend’s double mastectomy. I have started doing the same when given the chance. My friend passed away, but the cardmaker’s kindness meant so much to her and me.

Random act of kindness…hum. I asked my husband to refresh my memory. He said you are a nurse, you do that everyday at your work. I don’t know if that counts. I can’t give details I just yesterday, I gave extra TLC to a sweet lady who was very ill in the clinic yesterday. The stamps and dyes are wonderful. Thank you for sharing the cards for a cause.

My latest pay it forward was last week on holiday in Portugal …. one of the other holiday makers in our complex was heading home and gave us a bottle of whisky. We only had a few out of it, so re-gifted it to a couple who arrived on the day we were going home. A daft RAK I know, but the couple were all delighted 😉

My random act of kindness was just a small gesture but it was nice to see it magnify. An older gentleman held the door open for me and that put me in a happy mood which later I found myself letting a person with less groceries than I go before me in line. On the way out of the store I saw that same person who had been in a hurry stop and pick up an item for a toddler who had dropped their toy out of their shopping cart. I think when we are kind to someone it causes us to stop our normal hectic day to find a way to pass it on! I love that!

One of my co-workers brought me in a sweet little plant one day after I was having a rough week. So the next week I returned from a trip with a little gift for that co-worker and another that had been helping me get through some of my workload. I can’t wait to get started on my cards for the drive…. but got to finish the Halloween ones first…LOL

This past year has been one of the hardest of my life. My dad broke his hip and coupled with his Alzheimer’s disease he had to go to a memory care unit. While in the unit I noticed that some residents got very few visitors. I made it my mission, starting with Halloween last year to make cards for all 30 of them. My only wish was to get one of them to smile. It worked so well that I did Christmas, Spring cards, and the 4th of July cards (which got the best reviews to date – I must be getting better). Sadly dad came out of remission from cancer and we just lost him (his service was just Oct 1). The day before dad left the facility for the hospital and then hospice, I started a card box so that residents could have access to cards to give to their loved ones. I will try to make cards for Vera’s project. What a wonderful thing to do. I love your stamp sets and LOVE that you are donating to the Alzheimer’s association. Keep spreading smiles.

I love your gorgeous special release ! Those stamps and dies are so gorgeous ! I think that kindness is in everyday life : smiling to someone, saying hello and goodbye when entering or leaving a place, helping elderly people to seat in the bus, giving your seat….there’s so many ways to give Kindness, like this wonderful card drive ! It is such an noble cause !
Thanks to all the DT for those beauties.

Oh my! Love this cute release. My son recently started a new school and some of his peers have been so kind to him to include him despite his learning disabilities. This is truly an act of kindness. In return, I have always tried to never judge a person and to accept everyone as all people are special and deserve to be treated equally and loved.

I had given a co-worker a couple of rides home over the past couple months and so unexpectedly, she gave me a GC to Dunkin’ Donuts as a thank you (she knows I go there whenever I have to close). So of course I had to make her a thank you card.

Thank you so much for this fabulous hop and giveaway! It is for such a great cause! I can’t think of a RAK that caused me to pay it forward, except that I have been so blessed in so many ways. I do card workshops and recently when I was announcing my next workshop in our class at church, I felt led to give all the proceeds from my workshops to our class benevolent fund to help people with serious financial needs. Now I don’t feel selfish promoting the workshops. It’s great to be able to help others in need. And many smiles are generated by all the cards the ladies make and give away.

I have a friend in Canada who sends me cards and then always encloses a tid-bit of some sort… an image, embellishment, cool designer paper… I like to pass that on by making a card with the items, put them in a clear envelope with a small note that reads essentially: “This Random Act of Kindness” is a gift to you from me. You may choose to write a note in it, stamp it and send it on its way – or leave it blank and pass on this RAK to a friend or another stranger. Either way, I hope it leaves a smile on your face!” Occasionally I send the RAK, note and all, to my Canadian friend.

We'd love to hear from you…leave a comment
