Hi all! Kerin here with you today sharing a fun shaker Christmas card I created! When I thought of this card idea I knew I wanted it to be super sparkly, and what goes along with a sparkly card better than the Fabulous SugarCut die cut out of sparkly paper?? Next, I needed the sentiment to go along with the fabulous sentiment, so I pieced together a few words from the Flurry of Warm Wishes set to create the Christmas greeting I was looking for. Using a stamping platform made it a breeze to add the “a” after the “wishing you” portion of the sentiment. I simply inked up just the “a” from “a very merry”
If you’ve never created a shaker card I thought I’d share the basics of how it’s done. The CoverPlate SugarCut dies are perfect for shaker cards! Today I’ve selected the Large Striped CoverPlate for my card. Begin by adding a piece of clear transparency to the back of your die cut using your adhesive of choice. You can use anything clear really, I use Grafix Clear-Lay Plastic (.003 thickness). It cuts easily with my paper trimmer and comes in a 9×12″ pad of 25 sheets. That should last me a while! Once you’ve adhered the clear transparency to the back of your CoverPlate, add thin strips of foam tape around the edge to create a space to put in your sequins or other shaker elements.
For the background I used watercolor paper and sponged on Distress Inks in Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire and Seedless Preserves.
Now it’s time to add the shaker elements. I used sequins of course, but I also die cut some snowflakes from the Snowflake Tag using the same glitter paper I used for the “fabulous”. Simply place the amount you’d like to use in the center of your background paper.
Then remove the backing from your foam tap and line up your cover plate over your background paper and voilá!
