Witch Way to the Candy

Hi! It’s Kelly here today sharing my last Halloween card of the year! I’m not sure if I’m quite ready to put away all of the fun stamps and dies I’ve been using this year! For today’s card, I used my favorite  of the season; Hocus Pocus SugarCuts! I thought they paired so well with this super fun sentiment from the Bewitched stamp set.

Since I didn’t use an actual “candy” image and that is one of the main elements of the theme, I thought it would be fun to create a candy corn blended background! What do you think?  It is a super fun and easy way to bring another whimsical element to any card, depending on the theme!

To begin this background, I die cut a piece of Bristol paper using the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles SugarCuts. I used washi tape to mask it off to add in the different colors; easy peasy! I heat embossed the sentiment in silver onto a strip of vellum and wrapped it around the back and secured it with scotch tape.

I added the Witch’s hat, broom, stars, and moon to the blended piece using foam squares and liquid glue. Once that was done, I adhered the focal panel to a piece of Polka Dot pattern paper. I cut it slightly smaller than the white card base that is cut using the Card Front Element Builders. I absolutely love all of the dies included in that set; they really give my cards that professional look I am always hoping to achieve!

I used glitter paper for the moon, stars, and buckle on the Witch’s hat. I love adding in specialty papers like this to give my cards that little extra detail. I hope you’ll give some creative ink blending a try on an upcoming design; maybe for Thanksgiving or Christmas! The possibilities are endless!
