Hi friends, Sara here and I’m back again as a guest on the Sugar Pea Design blog with my second card of the month! Today I want to show you a really simple winter card I created with the “Hey Winter” bear. As I said last time, I love their bears so much!
To create my card, I firstly stamped the bear and the hat on a piece of Alcohol friendly paper. Since I knew I would have colored him as a white bear, I stamped him with a grey ink. I then used a Copic fineliner for the red sweater.
I colored everything with copics – just a few colors ( R89-R46-R35 | C5-C3-C1 | E55-E53) – and I added some details on the sweater and the hat with a white Gelly Roll pen. I think those decorations add so much to the colored image! When everything was ready, I die cut everything with coordinating dies.
I then moved to the background, that I wanted to keep quite simple. I used the emboss resist technique: I stamped the snowflakes from “Flurry of Warm Wishes” stamp set and I white heat embossed them on a piece of white cardstock. I usually start with a bigger piece of cardstock, this time it measured 5”x 6,5”. I then ink blended the sky using Distress Oxides in Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire and Speckled Egg. With a dry towel, I removed the ink from the embossed snowflakes and I splattered some white acrylic paint to create some texture too. I trim the panel to a 4”x5,25” and I used foam tape to attach the bear on the left side. I also stamped the “BRR” word (which comes from the same “Hey Winter” stamp set) on a piece of cardstock and I hand cut it as a speech bubble.
To complete the card, I stamped the sentiment and I matted the panel using a bigger piece of 4,25”x5,5” white cardstock. I absolutely love how this card turned out, I really hope you will like it too!
Let’s see next week, I will be back with another inspiration!
Hugs from Italy,
Sara
