Guest Designer ~ Ashley Ebben

Hello everyone! It’s Ashley back with another guest post for SugarPea Designs! For today, I decided to try something a bit different for me – an (almost) one layer card! I had to use that little rainboot from Sprout Bloom Grow so I created a soft garden card to incorporate it!

I started by stamping my images from Sprout Bloom Grow with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto an A2 sized piece of white cardstock. I stamped and cut out masks as I went along, until I had all of my images stamped and masked. I used Distress Oxides in Milled Lavender, Tumbled Glass, and Cracked Pistachio along with a super big brush to create a soft blended background inspired by the color of a succulent. I then splattered the background with watered down white acrylic paint using both a toothbrush and paint brush for a variety of drop sizes.

Once I heat set the background, I removed the masks and colored the images with Copic markers. I added dots of Copic marker around the images for a bit more depth and to help blend the inked background with any spaces around the images I may have missed. I used a white gel pen to add highlights and used a black pen to darken any stamped lines that were covered with Oxide ink. I used the Everyday Sentiments set and black ink to add a simple sentiment. I finished the card by trimming it down 1/8th inch on each side and adhered it to a light gray card base.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!
