Both of the card samples that I have to share with you today came together quite literally because of the mess on my craft studio desk. I often will ink up new stamps, experiment with stencils, and cut new dies in an array of cardstock and ink colors to be stored in bins for use at a later time. Before I could sit down to create, I first had to clean up because I had left die cut pieces, stamped and stenciled backgrounds scattered everywhere! It was when I began sorting and cleaning up my space that I noticed that all the elements for a perfect card layout were already right in front of me.
However, it was by complete accident that this Christmas Car was given a Buffalo Check paint job. The red and black Buffalo Check background had previously been stamped and when I went to die cut the SugarCut – Christmas Car, I simply grabbed the closest cardstock to me – happiest accident EVER!! Just look at it!! How darn cute is this car in Buffalo Check?!?!
I paired my SugarCut – Christmas Car with a beautiful ivory tone-on-tone Buffalo Check background that was created by stamping with clear embossing ink and then heat setting it to dry. I added a red glittery SugarCut – Merry word die greeting and paired it with a white heat embossed sentiment from Everyday Sentiments.
But are you ready for the best part?!?! The door to the SugarCut – Christmas Car REALLY OPENS!! {Squeeeeal!} It’s the little details that get me every time! I want to share a little tip with you – You need to layer the car onto a second cut piece (don’t glue the car door portion) so that when you open the car door you don’t have an empty space that shows you the base of the card. As you can see, I layered mine in black for a silhouetted look. I think it would be so cute to stamp a sentiment INSIDE the car so that it’s revealed when you open the car door, don’t you?
As I previously mentioned, all of the elements for this card were also on my desk waiting to be sorted. I simply cut my Buffalo Check background at an angle, added a strip of red cardstock and layered both onto a black cardstock base. The SugarCut – Merry word die was cut from red glittery cardstock and I used the same sentiment from Everyday Sentiments. I added a glittery die cut holly element (this is from a die set we’re introducing on Friday) to complete the look. So simply, so elegant and so perfect for creating mass production holiday cards.

Not a neon, but bright orange; like an actual orange. Ah the memories. I am really looking forward to buying this die because my mom drove a white VW and my sister had a yellow one! This die set is so fun and it could be used year round! Maybe put some daisies out the windows in the spring, or an Easter basket! I really like the sentiments too. So jolly fun!
