Follow Your Dreams
The Follow Your Dreams stamp set is a fabulous source of encouraging sentiments that pair perfectly with the variety of pattern designs to create artsy and modern backgrounds and accents. Just what you need to celebrate those milestone achievements and recent graduates looking to strike out on their own.
Another school year is coming to an end and Graduation season is upon us. My daughter will be a Middle Schooler next year so I guess you could say she is technically graduating from Elementary School in a few weeks, so I made this card to give to her. One day while chatting with my sweet friend, Stephanie Beauchemin she mentioned how cute the graduation cap in the SugarCuts – For The Graduate would look on the Hey Honey bear. So I completely credit her with this brilliant idea!!
I love all of the sentiments in this set and thought they would make a fabulous background. So I used a ruler to align all of the sentiments into my MISTI and stamped a background onto a scalloped panel created with the Card Front Element Builder I. While I had these sentiments set up in the MISTI, I went ahead and stamped a few more backgrounds to make a few quick and simple Graduation cards to have on hand. Next, I gathered all of the dies I would use and ran them through my Gemini Jr. machine. WOW! I didn’t realize until I started writing this post just how many dies I used. Here’s a quick listing of the SugarCuts that I used: Stacked Stars, Congrats, For The Graduate, Card Front Element Builder I, Card Front Element Builder II, and Hey Honey.
I really wanted to incorporate the year and use the numbers from the stamp set into my design, so I stamped those along the side in Versafine Onyx Black ink. **Something to mention: The number 6 in the stamp set should also be used for the number 9**. I chose a gold glitter cardstock as an accent color which really sparkles against the black. I assembled all of the pieces and used foam tape to create dimension and to make all of the rich details in the dies really pop!

April 26, 2019 at 7:58 pmHi! I love this card, the Hey Honey bear is adorable! Just wondering, what did you use to shade the edges of the die cuts for the head and snout? That shading gives the bear some real dimension and is just perfect! <3
Wendy Ramlakhan
April 27, 2019 at 10:31 amThank you so much. I used CHALK rather than ink to do the shading. I haven’t used chalk since my scrapbooking years, I forgot how fun it was to use.
