Sending You Birthday Wishes

Hi there! Kerin here with you today. I don’t know about you, but I’m about ready for Spring! I’m in the Northeast, and although we haven’t had as much snow as we normally would, we’ve certainly had our share of cold temperatures! Turning the clocks ahead always gives me the sense that Spring is right around the corner, so I wanted to pull out my favorite floral stamps for today’s card!

I began by using one of my favorite products from the new release to create a background to highlight the large flower, the Concentric Circles Stencil. I sponged on Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass, with lighter pressure as I sponged out from the center to fade the ink.

Next, I colored the large flower from the Pretty Peonies set using Copics in YR61, YR65, YR68 with a little N5 in the darkest creases. The leaves were colored with G20, G24, G28. I added a little YG01 on the sections of the leaves I thought would be in the most light, to give them a brighter tone with a bit of yellow. The Pretty Peonies set is the perfect go-to floral set for so many occasions, from birthdays and thank yous, to love and sympathy.

I fussy cut the peony after coloring. Ok, this was a mistake. Once I had the image colored I didn’t dare use my Scan-n-Cut, for fear it would miss a line and cut it wrong and I would have to start all over again. Next time I’ll cut the image before coloring!!

I popped the image up on some foam tape for added dimension. I stamped the sentiment, then added a few enamel dots to match the flower.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you’ll be able to get a little Spring into your life, even if only through stamps and paper!

The coordinating dots look beautiful. The peachy/coral color is also beautiful.
