Yarrr birthday!

Hey everyone! Stephanie here with you today on the SugarPea Designs blog and I’m so excited to share my own twist on one of the newest sets in store, Captain Of My Heart!

You might remember that last year, SugarPea Designs partnered up with Simon Says Stamp for their Stamptember event and created an exclusive set called Shiver Me Timbers, featuring some fun and quirky pirates.

It was SO popular (in fact, it sold out super-duper fast and is unfortunately not available any more!), that we just couldn’t resist adding on to the theme with the female version, Captain Of My Heart.

This scene was created using both the characters from Captain Of My Heart and Shiver Me Timbers, with a little bit of masking. Here’s how I created it.

First, I stamped the two gals that I wanted to be forefront on a piece of coloring cardstock.

Next, I placed a mask (made from stamping the same characters onto masking paper and carefully cut out with sharp scissors) on both of them, aligning each silhouette so they’d be covered for the next step, which was to stamp the monkey and two more pirates from the Shiver Me Timbers set.

Because I wanted a fun line-up of characters, I also stamped a treasure chest, one more monkey, a rhum bottle and a few birds.

When I was satisfied with everything, I removed all the masking paper and started coloring with alcohol markers. Finally, I stamped a sentiment from the Captain Of My Heart set and ran the whole thing through my diecutting machine with the largest stitched rectangle die from the SugarCut-Card Front Element Builder III set, before adhering it to an A2 cardbase.

I hope you liked this simple, but fun project! Coloring is definitely my jam, hehe.
