Say, HELLO to … Woodgrain Journal Card
Our Woodgrain Journal Card is the same 3″x4″size as our other super popular Journal Card dies. Featuring cutting edge rounded corners and a woodgrain embossing center, this newest SugarCut die will add just the right amount of detail and gorgeous texture to your projects.
Our Stitched Autumn Icons will bring a trendy and stylish look to all of your Autumn themed projects. We think you will agree that the layered pieces provide a charming detail that will make this die set a Fall favorite.
For my first card sample, I couldn’t decide if I wanted to color with my Copics or Zig Brush Watercolor markers…I decided to do both!
I started by creating the background with Zig Brush Markers and then using the SugarCuts – Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles to create the image panel and layered it on a kraft cardstock base. My squirrel was colored with Copics on white cardstock with I then fussy cut and popped up with foam tape. Lastly, I added a little bit of Glossy Accents to his eyes.
I’m head over heels in love with all of our SugarCut dies, but our brand new, Stitched Autumn Icons has me completely SMITTEN. It was a snap creating the set of thank you cards you see below.
This card is loaded with scrumptious texture…I wish you could all see it in real life. Once again, I started with the base layers created with the SugarCuts – Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles. I then cut a medley of fall colored cardstock with the Stitched Autumn Icons and then sponged them all with distress inks. I created a strip of glitter paper using microfine green glitter and double sided Scor-tape sheet. I then cut it with the previously released SugarCuts – Thanks word die.
The word die and pumpkin were both given more dimension by adhering the cardstock die cuts slightly off center on top of a layer of Chipboard Stacks. I love incorporating the Chipboard Stacks into my designs…it’s such an easy and inexpensive way to give charming details to your cards. Everything was then assembled onto a SugarCuts – Woodgrain Journal Card that is popped up with foam tape.
My next card came about because I realized that the negative space from creating the THANKS die on the first card would look great as a design element too.
Now, if I had *tried* to cut the Thanks word die straight or planned it out in any way, it would have never turned out right; but only because it was a happy accident was it worth using. LOL I love the CAS design but couldn’t resist adding the gorgeous acorn and leaf from the Stitched Autumn Icons for that extra pop of fall color.

Seriously… How do you even DO that? He looks like he’s about to hop away with his acorn… (By the way, acorns make me think of Ice Age. Tell me I’m not the only one?!)

The wood grain journaling card is awesome – and I have to add that I LOVE that thanks-die. I know it’s not new, but saying thanks never goes out of style, right?! 😀
